"I don't see how any of that contradicts anything I said. I don't think I ever said you don't have to pay back 7 years first before discharge. Also, as I said, if you had a medical condition that required continuous costly treatment with no coverage, did not practice as an MD, as well as if you were incapable of working, or became disabled, I have no doubt you would meet the qualifications of "extreme financial burden" or "poverty".

now you are grasping for straws....so basically you are saying that you think the huge (according to you) default rate from the carib schools is due to the 0.00000000000000000001% of the students that end up being in some accident that prevents them from working.....and it doesn't matter wether you work as the chief of surgery at yale or a fry cook the loans don not stipulate that you have to succeed to be accountable.

in order to qualify for this you have to work full time and still make below the poverty line. the rare situation you mentioned for defaulting due to a medical condition is the exception.

also you do realize that this program is not just automatic right? you have to graduate a certain number, you can't have a high default rate and all the other checks...just look up spartan that lost this program and how auc was on probation in the early 90's....there is a mechanism in place to ensure default rates are not high.

"Tell your "lawyer" friend to take a xanax before he strokes out."

actually versed would probably work better in your present state of rage. the measure of a good lawyer is how many MI's they've had ..mine is working on his 3rd....hehe

It seems to be mostly AUC people here.

Has there been any discussion or announcments of this situation at ROSS or SGU?

Good point, now back to the topic. AUC, Ross and SGU should work together on this. To be honest, it really doesnt affect a lot of us in clinicals much bc its really only 1 more payout we would be getting but is definitely important the our schools. I think we can all take a few minutes of our time to email, call or fax in a letter

If you are interested, you can write a letter. It may seem trite, but every phonecall or email is noticed by staffers.
Go here:

http://senate.gov/

Pick your state, go to both senators page and use the contact link. Most that I have seen have forms that you can fill out quickly. Be polite, logical, and ask for their support.

Its interesting since they have even more students at risk than AUC. Anyone else find this odd? AUC said today that the schools were working together to resolve the situation positively. But it seems that the other schools haven't even informed their students of the situation.

I would warn individuals to STOP attacking each other and instead, discuss the issue with cohesiveness and logic.

I found the following document:

contacting senators and representatives

Just so no one says they couldn't find the email addresses for their representatives and that's why they did not bother to write, here are links to contacting any senator or representative....

http://www.senate.gov/general/contac...nators_cfm.cfm

http://www.house.gov/writerep/

Please do write to them and ask all of your family back home to do likewise. Thanks

There is actually a smaller group of representives and senetors who will deciding how this bill is finalized. It might be more 'high yield' to write those people.
