That is the point. There is no accredited for future Medical Schools nor is there a current process to keep yours. It is crazy for those 3 schools to think they own the market on medical education because they happen to be around longer.

The Democrats did not vote against the house bill because it included student loans to Caribbean students. The bill is huge and has many parts to it.

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20051111/D8DPU1JO7.html

"The Republican Congress is about to slash more than $50 billion from investments in our children's future in health care and education," said Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, chairman of the campaign arm for House Democrats. "And yet, because of Republican priorities, they are going to actually add $20 billion to our budget deficit. ... Only in a Republican Congress."

The House plan cuts more deeply across a broader range of social services and targets more of the cuts at beneficiaries. Republican leaders say the effects will be modest to programs like the Medicaid health system for the poor and disabled. That system would still grow much faster than inflation even after beneficiaries face increased copayments and the likely loss of some benefits.

Low default rate.

The default rates for foreign medical students are quite low, contrary to the ignorant and unresearched remark by I can't remember his name earlier on the page. The federal government is not using a default rate argument, as there is no valid argument. The Republicans under Bush are slashing at all education in an attempt to feign a budget balance attempt as the 5.6 Billion/month Iraq war drains Social Security, all health care financial resources and all infrastructure.

I know of only an extremely small group of United States citizen medical students at Ross University School of Medicine capable of paying for medical school without the Stafford Loans. I need my Stafford loans. I have written quite a few letters in the recent 2 days. All of the medical students are concerned and those who could be directly affected have been phoning congress, sending e-mail, writing letters and faxing letters.

The Stafford Loans are, for those who can't read, loans, which will be repaid with financial interest, There is absolutely no downside to keeping the loans and an extreme downside to cutting the loans. There is a significant physician shortage in the United States. The American Association of Medical Colleges in recent years recognized the need to increase class size, and while there has been a large increase in the recent year nationally, it is a drop in the bucket compared to the long term need for doctors.

Please research before criticizing. Ignorance is unacceptable in anyone interested in medicine.
