Can you guys please read section 103, I am getting tired of stating this over and over.
Sec 103. `(i) in the case of a graduate medical school located outside the United States `(I) at least 60 percent of those enrolled in, and at least 60 percent of the graduates of, the graduate medical school outside the United States were not persons described in section 484(a)(5) in the year preceding the year for which a student is seeking a loan under part B of title IV; and So 60 % of the student population cannot be U.S. citizens. Sec 484(a)(5) refers to U.S. Citizen `(II) at least 60 percent of the individuals who were students or graduates of the graduate medical school outside the United States or Canada (both nationals of the United States and others) taking the examinations administered by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates received a passing score in the year preceding the year for which a student is seeking a loan under part B of title IV; or'; So it doesn't matter if 60% of your school were able to obtain the ECFMG certification. Your school still won't be eligible. The first requirement : 60% of the students cannot be U.S. citizens. In summary to federal aids, Option 1: (I) 60 % of the students were not U.S. citizens., (II) 60% of the students pass the USMLE and obtain ECFMG certification. Option 2: The grandfather clause As for students in the Big 3, we can only get federal aids through option #2. It is simple, if this bill passes YOU WON'T GET ANY MORE AIDS. No Federal Aids = No DOE # = No Stafford = No SalleMae Only Option: Teri and HealthXpress(I think HX is being sold, don't quote me on this). |

in case anyone wants to know how the house voted on the bill, here is the roll call. i dont know the part affiliations of these congressmen/women. ill try to research it and see if its random yea and nay votes or a pattern. it was back in july when the house first considered it, and numerous items were amended to it in the past 4 months. each amendment never affected our "1992" clause so i think this is the most accurate roll call.

You can still get Salle Mae signature loans though, I know a school who is getting them. One of the problem is also defferment of Undergrad loans. No DOE=No deferrment. You all need to keep writing congress, don't do it by email cause they just delete them do it in writing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't stop cause it's numbers that will count. Good luck. |
