And who is the senator who is opposed to our student loans anyway? The main sponsor is Republican Mike Enzi of Wyoming.
Remember we have to make certain that there is enough money for the tax cuts that the GOP wants.

I'd say it's hard not to worry when people think they may lose their financial aid, especially those with not-so-great credit that may have difficulty getting private loans.

Point taken, but read through the legislation and you can see some provisions that are not going to make it

Agreed, this would present problems for those with less then good credit. This if passed will be a wake up call to everyone, that protecting you credit is an imperial necessity and persons should take great stides in doing so

right but the way you pass laws are to have 3 groups

1. things you know or are pretty sure will pass
2. things that would be nice to pass
3. things that have no chance

by adding in some #3's you can make more #2's look good.....

right but the average person has a better chance of personally having their credit destroyed from identity theft than going to a school and losing federal loans

S. 1614 was sponsored by (R) Mike Enzi and co-sponsored by (D) Edward Kennedy.

H.R. 609 is sponsored by Rep. John Boehner and 8 other republicans.

Republicans are generally for doctors, so I doubt we got anything to worry about. The more money we make, it is better for them n e way. That just my 2 cents.

"Republic" if you did a search for Kerry and Ross on valuemd, you should find it. I read it a while ago. There was a discussion on his plans. http://www.valuemd.com/the-relaxing-...plan-ross.html

I guess we will wait and see, I hope for the sake of all that attend schools that receive Stafford loans, that the legislation excludes the repudiation of Stafford loans to foreign institutes of higher education. If this piece of legislation goes through then you will see a lot of collaboration with masters programs, ie st. matts., to produce Stafford loans for students attending off shore med schools.

Although I am not a student at any of the the 3 mentiond schools I plan on making my voice heard as well. I know and agree that not attending either of the three schools in the Carrib that offers the federal loans (even though I need them) was a decision of my own. I agree that ALL U.S students should look into writing their congressmen about this issue. You may think it doesn't effect you because you don't receive the loans or because you go to a school that doesn't offer them however, the truth is issues like this can lead to bigger things. With the loans will go credability and then what? We as a whole can not sit by calmly and watch the federal government discriminate against us because we have chosen to go to school outside of the U.S boarders. Especially when money is being spent on lessor valuable things just because them deem fit. Individuals that argue that these actions are not of an issue have no idea of what they are talking about and should be ignored by all (and Banned because of their ignorance). SGU, Ross, and AUC should continue to get these loans and we as forigen grads should assist them in anyway that we can. It's not just a mark on these specific schools but on the entire fmg student population.

To my future classmates at SMU I challange you to put aside any difference that you may have and join in contacting your congress in keeping this in tact. If ever there is a dream to impliment federal funds at our school then your chance to be part of that starts now.
