st.chris vs windsor

hi,

Anyone out there who can provide a comprehensive comparison between windsor in the carribean or st.chris in luton england.
If possible please refer to living conditions, prestige, success of past graduates, more competitive residencies, usmle pass rates, and the overall education.
Anyone find the windsor program too vigorous, since they do both premed and md courses in the same semester?
Also, wut about the grading system at windsor compared to pass/fail at st.chris? Which is more preferrable in regards to landing job opportunities? Do employers look at how you did in the past?
Feel free to comment on anything I have mentioned!
Please try to make this subjective, no byist opinions and no bashing please!

irene

Irene,

Please check the PM i sent you. Thanks

Also, I know I have a biased opinion in this matter since I will be attending St. Chris in Sept 2003, but I honestly believe St. Chris is better than Windsor in all aspects. It is more fitting to compare St. Christopher's to the "Big 3" (SGU, Ross, and AUC) especially in the next year or 2. Hopefully, I didn't anger anyone who is attending Windsor because that wasn't my intent, but I think many if not all would agree St. Chris should be chosen over Windsor if you are thinking about attending med school in the near future due to its more established status.

st.chris' forum can answer most of those questions in their faq. i dont know anything about windsor, so im sure u can find it on their forum as well. everyone will be biased unless you can find transfers bt the 2 school. all in all i think the only debate is carrib lifestyle vs english lifestyle. everything else is similar.

i agree with you for the most part except for the last sentence you wrote. every school is different and what they offer suits different people. However, like frenchfrie said, check the st chris forum for more info. Windsor doesn't have its own forum so I am assuming it is either very new or not too many people attend the school. I am not too familiar with windsor to compare, but I think my last post was based on what i know.

let's see

Here are some more...

Both school officially began the same year: St. Chris, Feb 2000; Windsor, Apr 2000.

Tuition: Windsor - $4900 (going up to $5900 next year); St. Chris - $6000 for Basic, $7500 clinical

Housing: Windsor - included in tuition; St. Chris, extra (probably fairly high in UK)

Textbooks: Windsor - included in tuition; St. Chris, extra (I'm almost certain)

Hype: Windsor - minimal, St. Chris - more (has own forum whereas can't find Windsor's)

For most other aspects, you will have to sit back and watch with excitement the posts as they appear and make subjective decisions.

( Hmmm, what happens if those exciting posts do not appear? )

Just want to make one correction:

The school actually begain in 1998. The year 2000 is when the school was WHO listed. We have PGY-3 grads and that would be impossible if we opened in 2000.
