HELP HELP!!!! Incoming 05 student with SO many questions!

1. first off, i know that everyone here is a SGU student or hopeful, so really and unbiasedly, how does SGU compare with Ross univeristy? ie. residency options, stats of graduated and succesful students...etc

2. There is all this concern about accredidation. So is SGU accredited? and if not, will it affect anyone wanting to practice in the US?

3. how much is the security deposit, because i still haven't received the packet, but i dont want to lose my place!!!

4. Whats up with the cell phone thing over there. Does anyone know if nextel or cingular work?

5. Are new incoming students guaranteed a dorm? HELP HELP!!!!

thank you so much!!

you can run a search and find a very detailed answer to every question. but let me give you the run down.
1. search this one. too long and too many.
2. yes for all 50 states
3. i paid $1000 dunno if they chaged it
4. as long as it has GSM it will work. cingular does have a local store here.
5. 1st termers are gurantee a dorm on campus. Most of them will be housed in the super dorms.

Yes all discussed many times. Do a search.

But to clarify:

2) No schools outside the US and PR are "accredited" by any US licensing body. There only exists lists of unapproved schools in certain states. Semantics, but an important distiction. However, SGU graduates are able to do residencies/practice in all 50 states. The closest you are going to come is that the US Dept of Ed and the NYS Assembly have declared the medical education at SGU "comparable" to US schools. I have posted up links to both, but am too lazy to search. SGU has thousands of grads practicing all over the US, but standard disclaimer: check with the medical board of your state to make sure you are licensable.

3) $1000 initial deposit, followed at some point by another $4000 deposit, which you can use loans to pay for.

residency

As far as your question to residency: look on both websites for placement ROss and SGU. I would say they are very comparable. Both schools seems to place several students in competitive residencies as well as the normal ones. Each year both schools have students that have gone to some presitigious programs but those are the exceptions not the norms for the carib schools.

SGU vs Ross vs AUC vs Touro (DO school in SFO)

This might not be as scientific an answer as you were looking for, but I'm rotating at a hospital with students from the above-mentioned schools, and we're all pretty much on the same level. It doesn't really matter; they all have good professors, and let's face it; medicine isn't rocket science.

all true. However different schools are better for different people. pass rates, state licensing eligibility etc are all issues to take into account. again please check a search on the topci.
