Went to Costa Rica how about the Carib?

ok

just got back from Centro Americano Costa Rica (some darn HOT BABES), went to visit the program vanguard medical school is running in conjunction with a local medical school.

what I want to do now is cook up some more information on College of Medicine and Health Sciences St. Lucia so I can compare the two ? Who out there can tell me about this program? Basically for me, its down between what I saw in Costa Rica and what I have read about St. Lucia and I want to make sure before I take any more trips that I am not wasting my time and my cash that I would prefer to spend in Chile, before I pick a medical school.

Please only sane posts, I dont really care to hear griping, just give me the facts, cat!

st. lucia

St. Lucia has a Club Med. Probably some hot chicks there looking for a hot med student. I hear scrubs are are a real turn on, women love a man in uniform.

Because when we go to med school, it's definately just for the babes :P

Maybe you should just for one moment take away the "babe-factor" and see what you want out of a medical education! There are other schools out there that may be better in getting you to where you want besides the ones that are located on islands with women with great physical apperances.

From my query on College of Medicine - St. Lucia, the only thing both posters have been able to concentrate on is my "babe" comment.

Talk about some closet "VIAGRA DADDIES" on this Board.

St. Lucia comments still wanted and welcomed!

If you are talking about this school and its programs, it is obviously a risky program

http://www.itgworld.com/MP_MD/

They have been around in various 'forms' for a while and you can't find any graduates or residents. That should tell you something.

Ok, ,maybe that was harsh. What we are trying to tell you is this: Nobody knows very much about the program you are mentioning because it is brand new. They might have potential, but that's just a fancy word that means "Ain't done nothin' yet".

You may want to look at schools that have a high percentage of students graduating with their own starting class, those same students should almost all pass step 1 on the first attempt, and the school should be able to show you a list of residents and licensed alumni in the states you are interested in practicing in. If they can't show you that information to your full satisfaction, you should shop elsewhere. Avoid any school that offers advanced standing for chiropractors, nurses, dentists, optometrists, and PAs. This will automatically get you stuck with a big loan bill and denied licensure by most, if not all states. Avoid online internet med schools. These will also reduce your pocket book, and keep you from getting licensed.

Recommended caribbean schools that (probably) won't rip you off are:
St. Georges
AUC
Ross
Saba
SMU
MUA

Spartan - this one is cheap and on St. Lucia, if you really want to go there, it's been around a long time. You can probably get licensed from Spartan, I think.

Thanks for your view. From what little I have read on dis' board you know your stuff.

When you say risky is that like something you equate
cause they are new? Since they are new thats why no one is licensed. I hesitate at some of the other Carib schools since it seems so MEAT PACKER to me. Anyway I have taken note of your words.

Wolfvgang22,

Great post. This is the type of material I crave. I noticed you left out UHSA, why?

Sweet. There are lots of medical schools in the Carib, but a lot of the bigger ones seem so meat packer to me! I like the smaller type ops that I can have more one on one time with my Prof's and such.

Anyway, no matter how hard I have tried, I cant find a 'thang on College of Medicine St Lucia, other than their own website.

Maybe some of the guys or gals at Spartan have done a "sneek and peek?" Like I said bFORE - I have pretty much narrowed it down, except that I am flexible on St Lucia.

A big "COOL U ROCK" to everyone @ Value MD for keeping such a cool board up and running so guyz like me can get the skinny on whats going on in medical education!

not good

Well,

its been a couple of days now and no one seems to have any goods on College of Medicine of St. Lucia, this in my book does not seem cool. To those that have sent me some PMz, I am not doing those right now, if you want to know more about the med school program in costa rica, I suggest you write them or call or get off your buns and travel.

I've read some good things about UNIBE (In Santo Domingo) and St. Eustatius, though Statia doesn't have any licensed grads yet.

Any info on those two, Wolfgang?
