    Need help going crazy

    Hi
I really need your help guys and need a good advice of how to go on

i have study medicine abroad to be accurate in alexandria egypt spent 6 years in a medical school there did not graduate because i did not take my final exam but still enrolled in the school i was in a good standing there but had to move to the state in 1993 and life got bad and forgot about the school for a while but this year i decided i need to get back to medicine and take my step 1 last week and waiting for my results.
Now i need to get to one of the schools that will give me about a year of clinical rotations in united state i dont care where the school located but all i care about is i will have good rotations and not having a problem getting residency and licensing in any state i have contacted all the big 4 but all of them need me to spend at least 72 weeks which is too long for me especially i have done all the basic science and almost all the clinical rotation any US medical student have done.
please i need your input here thanks

I think the 72 week requirement is because states require that for licensure down the road....

    Maybe not permitted?

To accept your credits, which are now over 10 years old?

i have applied for 9 different schools some of them i already got accepted and others were very strange they asked me to have MCAT score and i tried to explain to them that we dont have to take MCAT before going to the medical school they just dont get it and they want me to pass the step 1 and their execuse is they dont know if whatever my school offer is whatever is offer by their school !

these people are ignorant i dont know where they get these kind of people to work in admission thay dont have a clue what is going on ,my school is been out since 1948 been recognized all over the world and they getting licensed all over UNITED STATES WITH NO PROBLEMS people been working in united states for over 20-30 years with no problem and these people telling me they dont know if whatever i studied there is good or not, they just make me laugh because alot of the schools that i am applying to is only few years old and they question the credability of over 60 years established school .

if any of these schools officials can help me here with my situation it will be helofull for me
    thanks

    Some clarification

I am curious when you say..."i have applied for 9 different schools some of them i already got accepted and others were very strange they asked me to have MCAT score and i tried to explain to them that we dont have to take MCAT before going to the medical school they just dont get it and they want me to pass the step 1 and their execuse is they dont know if whatever my school offer is whatever is offer by their school ! "

and ...."these people are ignorant i dont know where they get these kind of people to work in admission thay dont have a clue what is going on ,my school is been out since 1948 been recognized all over the world and they getting licensed all over UNITED STATES WITH NO PROBLEMS people been working in united states for over 20-30 years with no problem and these people telling me they dont know if whatever i studied there is good or not, they just make me laugh because alot of the schools that i am applying to is only few years old and they question the credability of over 60 years established school ."

Schools establish their own admissions policy and criteria and YOU, or ANY applicant has to fit to their criteria, NO shcool is under any obligation to ACCOMODATE to your needs. Is it ignorant? I don't think so, bear in mind many top U.S. Schools have similar policies, if not most of them.

I personally know of 3 formidable medical docotrs in private practice that had a similar problem than yours, but they graduated from Eastern Europe and they had to redo the entire program, here in the U.S. of A.

Regardless of how old is your school, what is been looked at here is, how long ago you took all these courses, not how old is your school. You said you never graduated, that makes your situation more delicate, for not saying complicated.

    Good luck

    MAX

i dont know if you could do this but why dont you go back to the school in egypt see if they will let you finish the last year (i doubt it but i dont know) get your degree...and than come here and take USMLE set up rotations and apply for a residency....

u said ur school in egypt's degree is accepted in the states...so why not finish it there...

    Hi.
I'm assuming that your primary concern is taking clinical rotations IN the US, otherwise you would simply return to egypt and complete your studies. As others have said I don't think any of the "big 4" will give you such advanced standing as your completed coursework might merit, neither would any american university. Have you considered UNIBE in the dominican republic, they offer an english program and might be willing to give you more advanced standing than ther other carib med schools. I'm not completely sure but it's worth at least calling them up and asking what is the most advanced semester they could possibly transfer you to. Also, if you're desperate, which it seems that you are, you might consider UNPHU, another dominican university that is starting up an english program next year, they are desperate for students and they are very flexible in their concession to students, they might be willing to let you into the clinical rotations, although there might be a language shock as you'll be rotating in spanish hospitals. I don't think there is any university in existence that has clinicals in the states that will allow you to skip straight into the last year of rotations, especially with your circumstances. But if you're willing to consider doing rotations outside the US you might find a university that will be a little more accomodating. I don't know that for sure but it's worth giving UNPHU and UNIBE a shot. Take care and God Bless.
    Ozzie.
