Welcome to the main foreign medical school forum. Please note, this forum is for discussion about IMG schools/education. If you have a question/comment about a specific school, consider posting in that school's forum unless none exists. For discussions regarding medical or IMG issues in general (ie threads that are likely to evolve into personal reflections, political or philosophical content), consider posting in the relaxing lounge. The goal is to keep this forum keyed in on the issue of attending medical school overseas. Enjoy.

addendum: given that people are still posting many threads here that are so obviously not apprpriate for this main med forum- that is, their not discussion of medical school per se- you'll note that many will not only be moved, but no shadow left here. If you can't find your thread and it was something regarding, say, weather, a new philosophy in teaching or whathaveyou, check the lounge as the most logical place,.

if you note, many of the most frequently posted threads have been moved due to their being better suited to other forums. Ive tried to leave no shadow thread but PM the user when there is any reply yet (or not many), and shadow when there is. However there are so many posted here that shouldn't be, from here on I will not be alerting users or shadowing threads regularly. It just takes too much time and just is disorganized when users can pick the appropriate forum upfront. So if you dont see your post, check to see if its moved.

For "soft calls" (things that may indeed be viewed as appropriate for Main med but that ultimately got moved) shadows/ PMs will continue.

I hope this encourages users to make use of the other fora appropriately, and leaves me with less time moving things around.

Lately the trend has been for multiple posts with essentially the School X versus School Y versus School Z format. Its a natural way to think of things but this is effectively creating multiple overlapping threads. We do try to keep VMD useful mostly by keeping it organized.

Kindly do a search on the schools you are interested, either int he relevant forum or via the search function, and gather information first before asking a sweeping "which school is better" question. Then you can ask specific questions of interest to you.

Note that this is also more useful to the user. There is no "one better" place for everyone and the School X verus School Z question does you a disservice as it doesnt familiarize you with what the important issues are, why one school may be stronger than the next on a givien issue, and which is most appropraite for you.
