Is it hard for a foreign student to go into a Medical School in the USA

Hello you guys, my name is Michael Angelo and ever since i was a child i have always wanted to be a medical doctor and I was born and raised in California but right after 11th grade I went to study in the Philippines as Physical Therapy being my pre-med course. So i skipped 12th grade and didnt get my diploma from my school which was a very good school. I'm just planning to get my GED when i come back and i am currently in my 3rd year of Physical Therapy and it is a 5 year course. My question is when im done with my bachelors, will it be hard for me or will I be doing special courses or tests just to be admitted to a medical school in the United States?

Your high school situation is not the issue -- the problem here is that you cannot be accepted to a US medical school with a bachelor's degree from overseas. Foreign university studies are not accepted as premedical work in the States.

If you want to get into a medical school in the US you will need to complete all of the premedical science courses at a US college/university, and you will probably need to complete a US bachelor's degree (or at least 90 credits) in order to be eligible. Sorry, but the PI degree doesn't count. You will also need to take the MCAT and go through the application process. Of course, this is assuming that you have US citizenship (born in CA, right?).

You should be planning to come back to do a degree and then apply to medical schools.

Have you considered doing med-school in the Philippines. I know a couple of MDs that studied medicine in the Philippines and are now happily practicing medicine in the state of Florida. Look into it, that's my one cent

If you've got killer grades and a kick butt mcat score you can definitely get in...most US med schools take mostly US students, UNLESS they are extremely well qualified...if you can do that no problemo man
