    Middle East to Caribbean?

    Hi everyone

My sister is going to be starting her 5th year of medical school in a 6 year program in the Middle East and due to the deteriorating situation, she was thinking of transferring to a Caribbean medical school.

Would they take her without an MCAT or GPA system? Would taking Step1 be enough?

Which schools would accept her? She will be getting her Green card soon if it matters.

    Thanks for your help!

There are also likely many European medical schools that would accept her as a direct transfer due to the current situations in many parts of the Middle East. I know that University of Zagreb in Croatia has done so in the past, and I am sure that there are others.

Why not transfer to another school in a safer Middle Eastern country for her final year? She will be far better graduating from schoosl there as she will be able to practice virtually anywhere with no problem. Lebanon has a fine school (AUB), so is Egypt.

Thanks for your replies guys. She already did some electives at AUB before (in lebanon) but a transfer is not possible to this university (probably needs MCAT as well). Jordan is a possibility as well. But most likely she will return to Damascus. Thanks!

I'm in the same exact situation. I'm a fourth year dentistry student in Damascus, Syria and the situation there is getting worse. I've been looking to transfer to another university, preferably not in the Middle East because all the universities I've looked at in the region are either in another problematic country or are simply too expensive. Has your sister found a solution or did she end up returning to Damascus? Thanks!
