I began at a US medical school in 08.
I failed Anatomy, retook it and passed. (2 years)
I entered 2nd year, but failed a course twice. (2 years).
The failures were due to personal problems that have been resolved. I was an above average student in hs and undergrad (graduated with 4.0, good MCAT score)
Studying is not an issue for me, I just encountered some difficulties that I have never seen in my life before (person and family health issues)
Now while my transcript says I withdrew, I still passed all my first year course and 3/4 of my 2nd year courses before i withdrew.
What are my options?
While I am almost certain I can not attend any MD/DO program in the US, is that still an option due to my withdrawal and not dismissal (it can be seen as a forced withdrawal as they are giving me the option to withdraw or appeal the decision for dismissal so i chose to withdraw to avoid any further blemishes on my transcript)
I am lost. I have always been a great student and always wanted to become an MD. Should I attend Carribbean schools? Will they take my credits or will I have to redo Year 1 or Year 2?
Please any help is greatly appreciated. My support group is very small and the counselors at my US school were terrible.
Any and all support or help would be awesome!
Just to let you guys know, I am 27 turning 28 and dont mind working hard in another program (Such as PA) if it would be more beneficial to me than to reenter medical school somewhere else (poland/carribbean) and then fail to get a residency match.
