    Caribbean rankings by lowest attrition

What schools in the caribbean have the lowest attrition?

What schools in the caribbean have the lowest percentage pass rates for classes?

Do any caribbean schools grade with pass/fail?

Reasons for questions: recently came across someone online with a 3.75 undergrad from california that decided to go to the caribbean because she thought it was a quick solution. She had I believe a 20 even MCAT after retaking the test. She claimed that she wish she had attended St. George's or another school, and instead attended and failed Ross, which she claimed had high attrition. Also, some schools I hear have around 75 percent to pass. I know for instance Loma Linda in the states is 65 percent, and I bet countless others have lower pass requirements. I would assume osteopathic schools would have similar standards.

My guess is that St. George's and AUC have the lowest attrition rates. AUC I never seem to read much bad stuff about it. Also a professor at my university has a degree from AUC and was able to get into really good rotations and residency, which was connected to her undergrad that was on campus at a prestigious medical school.

I myself am working towards the US only, but have been curious about the caribbean.

There are alot of schools in the caribbean with low attrition rates. People leave schools because of failure, financial, USMLE problems, etc, etc. SGU is #1 in the caribbean. AUC, SABA and ROSS are all excellent. If you must chose go to one of those schools. Read all the forums about the pros and cons & make a decision. PS: AUC is on one of the best looking islands. I didnt go to AUC but I did see the island briefly

Thank you for the help. What I want to know is, do you know much about the study culture of these institutions? I am only interested in SGU and AUC as of right now, and looking for a great school, great looking island, and positive team-working environment. Even though this is thinking ahead, I am also wondering someone's opinion on prior relationships with medical faculty, and the possibility of matching into a residency in the home state.

    Thank you,

    DrChris

SGU will foot the bill (flights, hotel) for you to visit their Grenada campus once you are accepted. Tour the campus, by far the most impressive in the carib, talk to students, meet the profs, ask lots of questions, soak up the atmosphere, get a feel for what it would be like to spend 2 years on the island.

You know this is a good question, I would think SABA is better than AUA. AUA I have heard has some issues, and definitely some attrition problems. Can you be a physician from there? The answer is, its definitely possible. I know somebody from my state went to SABA because there was some nice in state clinical opportunities for the remaining years. SABA really is part of the big 4.

That's a very unfortunate situation. Luckily with the new student loan repayment plan, you won't be burden with debt. Just pay 15% of your income is gone, maybe 10% depending when you took out the loan. I don't know, there is always two sides to the story. I can tell that you being dismissed was probably due to discrimination at the rotation spot for being a Caribbean student, and your age. Though it could have been other reasons; such as you are book smart but don't have technical motor skill to be a Vet.

If this makes you happier, DeVry University stocks have been plumetting recently. enrollment nationwide is down 30%. They are restructuring more into the health field with their nursing school supposedly and so on. Anyways, you must have done something really bad though to have the doctor scowl at you when you say "Hi" in passing. I had people dislike me on a professional basis, but never bad enough for them to ignore a greeting.
