Exclamation Caribbean Medical Council Association (CAMC)

Re: CAMC (Caribbean Medical Council Association)
Caribbean Association of Medical Councils - Home

One of the ways to combat states delisting CARICOM Medical schools, is to have a unified Council, similar to LCME / MCC / GMC (unlike CAAM-HP) that upon graduation from CARICM Medical school, the MD, will take the 2 step exams, similar to USMLE, PLAB or LMCC.

So far the CAMC is not very active and FEW of the schools (mostly UWI grads) actually take CAMCs Examinations. However, if the CAMCs exams are to ba mandatory, instead of the USMLEs (as in many of the CARICOM schools, I think the picture would be different.) So, far the CMCA is offered only in Jamaica (UWI):

    1. Passing the CMCA, will allow CARICOM MDs to practice in the Caribbeans obtain residency in Caribbean hospitals and finally a license.
    2. Reciprocity status with USMLE / PLAB / LMCC / GMC

It more than baffles me Sir! Especially when you personally know, and was taught by two of the men on the panel, and know these men to be strict and rigid men. One of these men was a Dean at UWI, and would not even condone students from Ross in the early days to even do an elective, far less internship in or hospitals.

It seems something has gone wrong. Could it be that good money has been passed to some retired old men?

I can understand anyone embracing SGU. They have proved thier worth. They have integrated themselves into the Grenadian society and educational system, in a way that NO other offshore school has!

Exclamation CAAM-HP Medical Education + CACM Step 1&2 Exams = CARICOM Credibility

CAAM-HP Medical Education + CACM Step 1&2 Exams = CARICOM Credibility

This is why, I believe an exit exam, admin by a seperate association like CACM, will be a good thing.
Proper Regulation as a whole a good thing for credibility.

If CAAM-HP takes off, followed by CACM steps 1 & 2 Examinations.
CARICOM Med schools....will surely benefit from it all.

Similar to LCME for North American Medical Model Education and the USMLEs for standardization.
We all talk about SD from the mean right ?? why not in the CARICOM region ??

    Cheers
