CARICOM Medical Schools to AVOID:

1. St. Lucia/ kitts: Stay away from St. Lucia / kitts, med schools from these islands are becoming a bad joke among residents and program directors, my hospital included....
2. New schools: CMU, Trinitiy U, Destiny U, Hope U, Milik U (even their names sounds redicuouls),St. Theresa U, Oceana U..et al. are: new "Boutique Med Schools", operated from a small house, limited facilities, no dorms, with no legitimate ACGME hospital affiliations and with limited on campus, full time faculty.

UHSA should not be on that list.

UHSA is not listed in the list of approved schools by NY State Dept. NYS Medicine Application Forms

UHSA is however listed as a disapproved school by California State Medical Board. Welcome to the Medical Board of California - International Medical Schools Disapproved by the State of California

All schools not on the "approved list" in Cali are dissaproved
The ones listed as "dissaproved" like UHSA and SMU, simply went through the site visit or "assessment" process. All other schools, like AUA, IAU, etc....are dissaproved as well.

Yes, I completed all rotations in ACGME hospitals.

The ONLY Cali approved are SGU, AUC, Ross and recently approved SABA

When I completed residency, we read articles on issues of medical school's accreditation in St. Lucia and St. Kitts. There are more applications to start medical schools on these islands than Hotels.

I am simply questioning your motive behind adding UHSA to your list of ten schools to attend, when UHSA has no state accreditation, no loan program and listed as a disapproved school by states such as California and Arkansas New Page 1

Also if there are more applications to start medical schools than hotels in those islands (which i am not buying since you are not listing any sources), could it not be that the governments there are offering incentives with the objective of improving the presense of educational instituitions in those islands ? Rather to say that every school in those islands are a "joke" - i think is inappropriate.

My motive is simple, if you review my past postings, is to let prospective students make informed decision, many of my postings are to assist prospective MDs secure residency and get top USMLE scores.

UHSA was added as many states require the school, to exist for at least 5 years. UHSA was my choice, when all "new" schools didn't exist. It is one of the oldest schools, and good overall education.

Ofcourse, I would rather see students attend the top 4 or LCME type medical programs, even DO programs.

So if the overall education is good, and if UHSA is one of the oldest schools, why hasnt the school received any state accreditations so far ? What is your opinion on that?

Also would it be reasonable to put UHSA and Spartan on the same boat ? The two schools seem similar to me for a number of reasons.

Maybe, at the time of your joining UHSA was a good option. But does that mean that the newer schools which agreeably doesnt have state accreditations either are not good?

Why should a prospective student not try one of the newer schools hoping to get accreditations sooner(like AUA which managed NY in four years), rather than going to UHSA which has been around for ever and still has no accreditations ?
