when did u submit ur apps to sgu? also, what were ur stats? i'm worried about my gpa notbeing competitive enough (sub 3.0). ok feel free to pm if you prefer. thanx

I submitted my application in December but did not send transcripts until mid January. I got an interview within a week of submiting the transcript, I believe that was Jan. 18. I had a 3.7 cum and a 3.7 science GPA. They look at everything in the application though because my MCAT was ok. But I had lots of experiences in the healthcare field and research as well as volunteer work. By the way, I didn't get accepted til April because the committee did not meet until then. So, in a sense you are lucky because you'll find out right away.

hey 007,,,

i'm at sgu now, just finished first year. sgu really does look at the entire application when considering ya,,,,not just numbers. that being said, most of us here had pretty good numbers on one side of the coin. i sucked at the grades thing,,,,2.7 science, 3.1 overall, but mcat was alright, at 9/9/10 for a 29R. MCAT is a bigger predictor of first year success than is gpa. that doesn't mean that you if you have a high, average, or low mcat that you'll rock, do ok, or suck, respectively, but it is saying that there's a strong correlation between mcat and med school performance. take it, rock it as best ya can, and good thing will come.
