FAIMER

recognizes CAHSU-Belize at:

http://imed.ecfmg.org/details.asp?co...0&psize=25

St. Marys is more complex.

their cook island charter shows them at:

http://imed.ecfmg.org/details.asp?co...0&psize=25

their St. Lucia recognition shows them at:

http://imed.ecfmg.org/details.asp?co...0&psize=25

resident I could find for St. Mary's is:

AAIMG (ok, I realize many don't like the anonymity of this site but much of what they write seems fairly right on) has some fairly big questions for St. Mary's

What they've told me is that no one really wants to go to Cook Is (too far from mainland) so the school finally found a charter in the Carib and now new students are coming. St.Mary's existed since 98' and with graduates in various residency programs. That's all I know. My friends are happy w/o much debt. Use your own judgement.
st mary's history is much more colored than being recently in the cook islands and then picking up.. packing up and moving to st lucia...

i too have very close friends that transferred to st mary;s from UNIBE in 1999.. they transferred to st mary's which was at that time located in HAWAII .. govt caught on.. shut them down.. and then these ppl moved to EL PASO TX, driving daily to JUAREZ MEXICO for classes...... at that time they, the students, were copying out the HI YIELD books and handing them in for credit, they had no tests, 100% of their grade was based on a "take home test" which involved the ever daunting task of copying the HI Yield word for word...

eventually these ppl ended up in clinicals in MIAMI.. of course many were kicked out of the hospital and not allowed to be present there.. they obviously got credit for clerkships they never attended...

from the group of ppl that transferred from UNIBE in 1999
3 of these individuals have now dropped out from st marys and med school completely because st marys was horrible to deal with, could not get the school to release transcripts and the school would not send in the USMLE forms in a timely manner so that these ppl could register to take step 1...

2 individuals have finished clinicals.. in reality only attended less than half of them because they were not allowed to be in the hospital for the other half, have graduated, and have been tyring to pass step 1 for over 2 yrs now, have failed twice to date...

a 6th individual from the same group has 4 weeks of rotations left, at least on paper, he cannot get st marys to authorize him to take step 1 and st marys will not give him his transcript which hes been trying to get for the past yr so that he can transfer elsewhere...

why would u put urself through this? granted a few individuals have successfully finished everything and are in residency.. theres just as many if not more individuals out there that are in limbo and essentially got taken for a ride...

please think long and hard before u decide to take such an enormous risk.. if the risk is worth it.. then by all means go to st lucia.. but remember there are other schools out there with a significantly better track record

It some some graduates in residencies in the US that I can find. not as checkered a past from what I read. however, elsewhere you can read about its recent "Professor of Anatomy"

I know for a fact that they have high school students with NO college whatsoever admitted there as well as other students who have no pre-med or even basic science courses admitted there. I know that because I know the students who are about 18 and 19 years old and who just got out high school last year.

Anybody that can write a check will be accepted. If you are a transfer student and won't be able to get your transcript from your old school, you will be told to not worry and that your classes will be honored anyway. All I can say is, get it in writing or you will be taking those classes over again.

Having said that however, I think I am getting a decent education but I have no way to compare. I can say the classes are very difficult for whatever that is worth and some of the professors are very experienced, pro-student and very helpful which means they are generally harraassed by administration. I can also say the rules do not apply to everybody equally. If you are from India the attendance rules sure don't apply because an Indian is the HMFIC in Belize. Anything that guy says to you, be sure you record the conversation or get it in writing signed in his blood. . . and he'll still deny he said it.

I wouldn't say don't go, but I would say get all representations in writing. Take it from a transfer student who knows.

Oh one more thing. If they have you talk to a student named Tony, just realize that he is one of those students to whom the rules do not apply and he is their main recruiter for transfer students. Once again . . . get it in writing.

Good luck.
Hello " Since [you are] still enrolled at cahsu. What would you recommend for a foreign student about the academics. Especially if someone is planning to attend med school Jan 2005? What is the actually number of students graduating and their average scores on the Step I and Step 2 on the first attempt. I would really appreciate if you can respond. Looking forward.

thanks,

If you fail at AUC, SGU, or Ross why not transfer to SMU, if you fail at SMU, why not try another SMU.

Cahsu is a making babiesing pooh pooh school.
I have been in Juarez for some time now, and
everything folks are saying is true absolutely.

Murali is an place to exchange gas.
The teachers are pretty pooh pooh.
They all lied about CALIFRONIA LICENSURE!!!
The librarians steal stuff from the bags, I had money stolen from my bags
a lot of it. They make u surrender your bags to protect their few and far between books.

The teachers cannit making babiesing speak english.
