Caribbean Med school- Texas Electives

Hi!

I'm a current undergrad and am hoping to apply to medical school for the incoming class of 2009. I will be applying to SGU, and AUC.

I was wondering if any of the students that are in their 3rd or 4th year at these schools, or have already graduated

Did you do any electives in texas? If so, what was the process and how hard is it?

Thanks!

I didn't even go to one of the big 4 schools, and i got electives in texas easily. UT-houston has a form you fill out. you need to be in your 4th year of med school, have a step 1 score, and it's $250/month. big deal. apply 3-4 months in advance.

Thanks for your reply! If you dont mind me asking, were you able to do all your electives there? Or certain ones? I plan on being a surgeon, and I would like to gain residency here, So i'm hoping it isn't too hard to have the surgery elective in texas. Thanks!

exactly, or you won't get licensed in texas one day (maybe you won't anyway, because texas is tough on IMGs). ut-houston doesn't allow you to do rotations unless you are a registered as a visiting student.
