Ross transfer student interview process a little shady...

Hey just looking to see if there is anyone else out there that recently has been interviewed by Ross for transfer status (3rd-4th years). I am currently at another foreign medical school that is pretty much going down the "shooter." I had the privilege to recently interview with Ross and thought this was my way out, but I was quickly disappointed with the process and the less than personable admissions dean. I can't believe this guy is representing Ross. I felt like a number and all the admissions dean was interested in was my GPA and MCAT. My interview lasted no longer than 20 minutes and not once was a questions asked about me in regards to my character or former research that I have conducted. In addition, the dean pretty much degraded the school that I am at right now. I thought is was very unprofessional of him and now i am not sure I even want to go if accepted. Has anyone else out there had similar experiences? Has anyone transfered into Ross without regret?

The admissions dean sounds overwhelmed. He's dealing with large class sizes and not enough clinical spots.

The taking in of 3-4th year students will just exasperate the clinical spot shortage.
Are transfer students on the same playing field as original Ross students when it comes to clinicals?

not sure...

i am not sure if Ross students are considered first when obtaining clinical rotations. The admissions dean made me feel as though my 8.2 GPA was right at their cut off and pretty much gave me the impression that I should feel priviledged to have been granted an interview. So I guess that would place me at the bottom. i am just ready to get out of where I am at, but whether or Ross will even accept me I don't know. They have gotten really good with making themselves sound like Harvard and pointing out how they have a higher pass 1 rate than Harvard. What they don't tell you in the interview is that many of the students take extra time beyond a semester just to be allowed to take the boards. Ross has a shelf exam process that must be passed before taking the boards. In addition, former Ross students have waited a semester or so just to get a clinical spot for rotations and still having to pay tuition. Is there a Ross student out there willing to confirm this? Is going to ross worth the headache?

ross

I have heard many stories about Ross, the most interesting one was from a graduate who posted in the Ross forum that she felt like she paid Ross over 150 thousand dollars for the privilege of taking the USMLE that she basically studied on her own during basic sciences. A family practitioner I know from Texas said something similar. That said, other students swear by it, I would say it is a 60% happy rate and a 40% unhappy rate. That is my take anyway. They also have the reputation of accepting a first year class of 300 and weed off more than half after the first 2 semesters, a real money maker. Check the Ross forum, you will find mixed messages.
