My boyfriend has been accepted to University of Health Sciences Antigua and we were wondering if anybody here that attended the school knows of a way to get financial aid being a US citizen? Or maybe scholarships that are available. They contacted him last week to let him know that he was accepted for May semester, which is short notice. Any help woud be great.... thanks so much!

Unless you get a private source for funding, no they do not have any kind of financial aid in place. Scholarships? UHSA? I doubt it. I don't want to burst your bubble or anything, but if you check their website they will tell right there.

Why doesn't he apply to a , ahem, better school?

Why UHSA

I really cant imagine that folk still go to that lonely desolate forlorn place called UHSA. with all that bush around it coming down from the hills.
I surprised no one has yet to be attacked up there.

That was one of the worst experiences of my life as either scholar or educator.

UHSA is the only school I have been to where there is no librarian in the library- since there is no books in the library worth stealing.

The average Antiguan does not know where the school is even after 30 years operation.

UHSA is website - all website.

This so call person that is talking about her boyfriend is probably a UHSA official trying to get some free advertisement for the school on VMD.

I don't think it's an UHSA official. Trying to get some advertisement at the expense of letting people know they have no financial aid and you must fork the $$$ upfront? Doubt it.

As a matter of fact, I'm not an official at the school, it was a genuine question. I do believe that is the purpose of a thread or forum.... to find out information. Why would I want to advertise that a school has no source of financial aid if I worked at the school? I'm sorry that you had a horrible experience at the school. I simply found this forum through search and figured I would ask the question. To everyone else that answered the question thank you!

What is AUA? My boyfriend is American and would rather study at a Caribbean Med-School, but we are not very familiar with the different schools. He was referred by an old school mate who went to the UHSA, that is why we are trying to find out more about the school.

Avoid Uhsa

AUA is the much younger but much more reputable and sucessful medical school in Antigua.

UHSA is a school started in 1982, which like its peer Spartan is stll trying to find its way.

You see God aint dead yet, and he has a way of dealing with evil people.

My advice to you and your boyfriend; for starters AVOID UHSA, IUHS, Windsor, St Theresa, MILIK, CMU, JBGDL, XAVIER

Now you can think of the others according to the size of your pocket.

SGU ROSS AUC SABA are considered the top 4 Caribbean offshore schools.

Ease my mind...

I have read all of the posts about UHSA, both old and new. I am three weeks of going...and must admit I am getting cold feet. Having trouble getting a loan...can I get a license once I am through...etc. Most of the posts are older than 5 years, except for the last one of 2/2008.
I would greatly appreciate some feedback from either current students, ones who left (if any) etc. that have been to UHSA over the past couple of years.
Thanks!
