to the point, MUA, I'd wager, is at about 3.0 right now, each class is full, and it's getting more competetive. Ross may be also, but that's because they have a higher class size they need to fill and therefore consider gpa's around 3.0. (at least a year ago that was the case). SABA and SGU are probably more like 3.4 or so?Other Caribbean schools like Windsor, etc, who may not be able to guarantee clinicals, may have 2.0 or whatever you'll give them. Don't know if I'd go that route, doesn't look good.

Great research has been done to quantify and refine the ability to predict prospective student performance in medical school. It's safe to say that past performance is highly indicative of future performance. If you do not feel confident in your abilities as a student, trying to convince yourself you can overcome academic hurdles greater than ones you've failed at in your past should become a self-evidently mute obstacle, let alone one you should venture to bet $50,000+ on suddenly overcoming.

The fact is that not everyone the intellectual acuity to become a physician and you don't have to go into years of debt to figure this out the hard way for yourself. A little common sense and retrospective analysis of your own performance goes a long way to prevent yourself becoming a victim of attrition.

Good luck.

It seems you probably have the basic IQ needed for Med School, but with a lot very hard work, and maybe accepting passing grades. But that can make a good MD.I'd say the bigger concern is in yoru emotional development, self insight, and wisdom. What do you think?

You wrote in great lengths that you wish to become a doctor and if not will choose an entirely differently non-health related career path. I wonder if you ever asked yourself what is it about being a doctor that is so appealing. What is it about becoming a doctor that no other health profession can provide?

I think its one of those questions every medical student should know indefinitely. Not only to prepare for in coming interviews, but to recall during dark times in medical school. If the answer to this simple question is not solid as stone, then perhaps more self reflection and further research into potential careers is needed.

Tofo, you said you have 2 years left before you graduate so buckle down and study your bottom off and then study some more! Make the last classes you take count. Get some clinical experiences with physicians then study for the MCAT and see what you get. You can do it but it won't be easy. I am sure there is a Caribbean Medical School that will take you. Look at St. James, you can't practice in all states with an MD from there but you can practice medicine. No MCAT required I think. Good Luck to you.
