    Question Caribbean Pre-Med Programs

Hi, I wanted to know if anybody could give me more info on this issue. I got some college credits but don't have a Bsc degree yet. I don't have the required courses to meet the requirements to get into med school either, but I've been told that Caribbean school's like UNIBE have a pre-med program there. Does anybody know anything about this and if there are any other Caribbean school's that have a pre-med program on-site, and how they rank?

    Thanks.

If you have it in your head that you will not, udner any circumstances, spend 4 years in the US getting a bachelor's degree first, I'd either:

    1) Go to Europe
    2) Go to Mexico
    3) Go to the Dominican Republic

All of those options involve universities that are undergraduate and graduate institutions. No Caribbean medical schools, with the exception of SGU being affiliated with some CC on Grenada, is an undergraduate university. They are licensed to grant medical degrees. However, it says something about their undergraduate courses when you realize that if you wanted to transfer them to the US, it would not be possible. Do you want to transfer the credits? No. Does it mean that it's a good thing that you can't, though? No, I don't think that's a good thing.

I'd avoid doing pre-med at AUA, or any Caribbean school. Not to say AUA isn't a good medical school; I think it is. But it's not the best decision that you could make, in regards to licensing issues in your future. Many states require 60-90 credits of undergraduate work, which you will not have if you do 1 year of pre-med in the Caribbean. This is not difficult information to find via a quick google search.

Zut Alors - I'm sorry if I misunderstood, but are you suggesting to take pre-med in Europe, Mexico, or the Dominican Republic because the credits would be recognized in the U.S.?

I cant think of any good reason why anyone would go to the Caribbean to complete their premed requirements. Anyone with a pulse can get into some type of program in the States. If medicine is your career pursuit, and you want to practice in the US, dont mess around. TAKE YOUR PREMED CLASSES IN THE US. I cant emphasize this point enough.
