New and looking for any advice.

Greetings.

My name is Michael and I'm new to the forums. I have actually stumbled upon this website browsing for information on medical school programs and I've spent the last few hours astounded by the wealth of knowledge here!

I was hoping to ask for any opinion on my situation.

**Background info**

I am a 26 year old male who graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My GPS was a 2.5 and my major was English. I have also taken the science courses required for Pre-Med.

I was a late bloomer in college, hence the poor GPA. However, after taking a hiatus after graduation, I worked in hospitals and I have recieved a license as an EMT-B. To clarify: when I mean Late Bloomer I mean a stupid spoiled kid who didn't apply himself at all in school to the chagrin of his parents.

I have always wanted to go to Medical School and having gotten married and now going back to school full time, I am currently studying at Depaul University in Chicago for a Masters in Biological Sciences. (2 year program).

So far I've done well in both Immunology and Medical Bacteriology (Both A's ) however I'm wondering about going abroad instead of doing the long haul of 2 years masters, and than medical school.

**questions**
Are there certain requirements? I have gotten great reccomendations from my teachers at Depaul however I have an extremely strong desire to learn and apply myself. I have to admit I miss working in a hospital as an EMT-Tech.

Besides MCAT scores, would I need anything else? Would other medical schools be interested in my 1/2 year course work at Depaul and overlook my fecespy Undergraduate GPA?

Upon graduation of Medical Schools abroad, I would just need to pass the 3 parts of the USMLE?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Half year versus your entire undergrad? Not a chance, they'll look at them all but take it into consideration. Your best bet is to get as high as a GPA in your Masters as possible and get as high an MCAT as possible. Will there be a medical school that will take you as is? Sure. Will it be one of the more reputable Caribbean schools? Probably not. So do as well as you can.
