MILIK Medical School Saint Kitts

I notice that the Fort Thomas Hotel and Resort has ben offered up by the St Kitts Government for use as a medical school location.

It is indeed a nice location. It is walking distance to the city center along the lovely Bay Road. It has a lovely view of the Baseterre Bay and out over the sea to contiguous Nevis. When I lived in St Kitts in 2002 I lived next door and can tell you that one can get from there the most lovely view of the sun arising over Nevis on mornings.


One would think that a lot of work would need to be done on the buildings, however, since the place has been vacant for years. I was told that it was offered to IUHS for sale but that they declined.

If it could be purchased and suitably renovated, it would be a lovely site for a medical school in my opinion; certainly far better than most that I have seen in the Caribbean.

im still pissed at myself for coming here. this place is going no where any time soon. eventually it could be nice but not at this rate and not with milik running the show. its a 1 man show here , no teachers, faculty, not even a phone where people can call and ask questions about the school. we dont even have a secretary to answer the phones if we had a phone. besides thats it a complete DUMP and need more work then you can even imagine. its unsantairy and a JOKE of a university. its a shame that this school got this location i wish a real school would have gotten it they would have made it some thing better than what it is with milik doing. Im gonna type up everything that goes on here tomorrow, and ill post it , its gonna be long but you guys deserve the truth.

It is extremely nice of you to tell us the truth about MILIK. Most folk who attend less than savoury schools rant and rave whenever a student or faculty reveals the happenings at their school. However, I think you owe it to God and humanity, and other prospective students to expose the faults and foibles of your “school” to the world. We all deserve to hear the truth. I think you should try to get some of your photos and what you propose to tell us tomorrow printed in the opposition newspaper the Democrat. The people of St Kitts need to know the truth also about what goes on in their country.

Your revelations will help other prospective students to realize that the warnings issued on VMD ought to be taken seriously. Revelations from folk like you will help reduce the number of nonstellar schools in the islands.

Sir I have not been to MILIK, but from your post it seems that MILIK is modeled after that of JBGDL on the Texas/Mexico border. That prospective students is another place to avoid!

I sent you the picture, and you saw for your self exactly what this place is... Hey dont get me wrong i was the only person on this site backing this place up, but after 8 months of being toyed around a lied to it was time to make sure no one else came here.. but again its just opinion, you never know someone might come next semester and just LOVE MILIK UNIVERSITY (probably not) but you never know all what i say is my own opinion. and a picture is worth 1000 words.

And the people of st.kitts dont care about what goes on in their country !! they have no clue this school even exists here . goverment as well as locals could care less about this place, which explains the countrys extremely easy policy on how to get a charter for a university go to www.gov.kn and look at the rules.. it costs $4500 usd. so if some one wants to go halfs with me im down to split a med school ...lol

Thanks for the photos you sent. It is appalling to see how much more the place has run down since 2002. I wish you can get help from some one on this site who can help you to upload the pictures, so that prospective students can really see how much the owners of these medical schools care about the students.

Some sage will come on here now and say that infrastructure does not make a medical school; but the way that place is run down including the dead rats around is most interesting. They could at least have cleaned up the yard. The stagnant water in the yard is a good breeding ground for aedes egypti mosquitoes and the start of a dengue epidemic in the area and the city.

Mace you need not apologize Sir. 8 months is long enough to be lied to, and you are quite correct to expose the place to discourage others from going there. Since a picture is worth 1000 words, it would help immensely if someone who knows how to upload Mace’s slideshow on to the forum to help him to do so. You need to see the photos for yourself. The photos remind me of the guano filled beautiful building that adorns the JBGDL site. The boxed off one little room for class purposes reminds me too of the solitary classroom at JBGDL!

Yes Mace we guys at VMD know our stuff. We have been there! I hope that now others will believe and listen before suffering as you are doing, and as the students at SPSOM/IMSA/JBGDL suffered in 2006/2007 and continue to suffer even now.

Despite the fact that the people of St.Kitts dont care about what goes on in their country and that they have no clue that the school even exists there, an election is due, sp PAM might find it good fodder for there electioneering in the attempt to further embarrass the government.

A charter cost more than $4500 US these days. But if you can get one for that let me know.

it wasnt a matter or flexibility, it was a matter of some one making up a university, saying he had student, saying he had teachers. i adapted very well to life in St.Kitts. i never had that initial "culture shock" that usually happens when you move away.. This is a matter of the school not being truthful, having no teachers, and a liar running the entire show. im sure some of you guys think of im just angry because of something else, but i backed this place up so many times because i had hope that this place would become something, but its very obvious that i was wrong.. if there actually was a schedule, a decent class room, and a EDUCATION, i would have still been there sticking it out until the end. !! you guys who saw the pictures saw what i endured, and that was besides the lies about student, and previous students doing rotations !! THERE ARE NO PREVIOUS STUDENTS DOING ROTATIONS !! not a single 1 becuase i know the only 2 students that have ever been to this university !

We do not think you are just a liar or just angry
Because few persons have responded to your posts does not mean that your plea has not been heard. You are one of the few who are honest and truthful enough to tell of your experience at MILIK. Many students are experiencing similar grief at many of the Caribbean offshore schools, but they grin and bear it for shame hoping that some day they will become eligible to take the USMLE exam.

Many students and teachers have experienced that most Caribbean offshore schools are not truthful have no or few teachers and may be run by folk hired to lie on behalf of the school. I have seen it close up for six years.

I respect you 100 % because you are so different than the others in your position elsewhere- for example the 13 students that wasted a whole year of their lives last year in the Cook Islands and Nuevo Guerrero at SPSOM/IMSA/JBGDL

Don’t worry You have done your job. Just post the photos and maybe this place will die very quickly.
