    Question regarding transfering...

Hi, I have a question regarding transfering...,

Say that I attended Saint George for the basic science and passed my USMLE Step 1, and I transferred to Sint Eustatius for their clinical rotation and passed my USMLE Step 2.

My question is will I be a graduated student from Saint George or Sint Eustatius. And would I still be able to do my residency and be licensed in CA and NY?

    Grants your diploma?

So you are saying its really up to which school wants to graduate me? That makes no sense.... Because if I transfer from school Y to X., wouldn't I be a X student then and finish up with their clinical year and gradaute from there? and if I do graduateion from X, would the states license follow Y or X?

    No

No, that is not what I meant, read it carefully. I mean which school you will be graduating from, that is the school that grants your diploma, there is from you graduate, irregardless where you attended before.

If you transfer from Y to X, and graduate from X, even if you spent only a year in X, you are a graduate of X. You transferred from St. George to St Eustatia and graduated St. Eustatia, you are a graduate from St. Eustatia. If St. Eustatia is not Cali aproved, you dont get licensed, they are clear on that, you won't be elegible for licensure. It's from were you graduate.

Wow.., so in the wild case... if I attended Harvard University for the basic sciences, top student, perfect score on USMLE I and decided to join Sint Eustatius' clinical years, I would still lose CA and NY? Man...

yup. typically its wherever you graduate from and no us school is likely to take you in their last year. its perfectly fair .

Harvard analogy or no, it makes perfect sense. Even if you transferred to a school and attended one day (assuming there was no residenc requirement), you graduated from the second school. No different than undergrad.

Send an email to Pat Parks from the Cali Medical board. She posts here so no problem disclosing the name name now. Get it from the source if you still have doubts.

    Good luck
