USAIM, Seychelles....?

I have heard about the USAIM medical college in Seychelles, Victoria. It claims to complete the course in 3yrs and 2 months....(the vacations will be cut down to accomodate the duration)....Does anyone know if this is possible? Does anyone have any info about this school? I am from India and I wish to do medicine at the age of 24...So I would prefer a course with 3 to 4 yrs of duration....I have done my UG in Zoology(spl.-Biotechnology).

Looking forward to ur valuable replies,

Naveen.

If you use vmd's search function you will find a number of posts on the subject. However a good number of these are also along the lines of "it looks like a nice place..."
More concretely see
GMC | Acceptable primary medical qualification
- the GMC does not recognize its degrees for registration.
Given the GMC's stance they will find that many hospitals in the U.K. will refuse rotations.

  1. Kigezi is not "listed among the schools that graduates could sit for plab". It is one of those in the "may" or "case by case basis".
  2. I happen to know that the GMC is well aware of what has happened to Kigezi. However such schools still have graduates who may apply for registration years later. Additionally it is sometimes unclear and uncertain whether these moribund schools have been reincarnated.
  3. The information which I published - that the GMC does not recognize degrees for registration purposes - came from the GMC's own website. Therefore I would assume that it is "legitimate"!
  4. If you're asking whether the GMC is justified in taking this line, that's a different issue. I don't know their precise reasons and the source of their information, beyond what is stated on the website.
  5. Yes, the GMC in general is tardy and some of its information is out of date. They do a great disservice to both public and students in this way.

Yea I Am Victim

As a victim of the so called medical school called USAIM, I would like to share my opinion and would hardly praise it. The president of this institute is only concerned with money (as USAIM has made way for her to be some rich, she was a middle class before and all of a sudden money gets to you, what it did to her!), she personally gets some sort of joy out of students failing thus either sitting for retake exam or re sitting the semester (because of the extra money and tries to prolong the graduation as she doesn't have that many students to begin with). She knows that the standard of education is mediocre (proof: her own daughter isnt coming here and instead applying to other medical schools), but still the president talk abt USAIM as if it were Harvard. In fact half of the students got suspended 1 1/2 years ago for cheating because the ministry found out and put pressure on the president to do so. The classes are taken place in a 6 room dump of a building and the teachers are below avg. Most of the teaching faculty is str8 out of medical school with no teaching experience and only hold a MBBS (BACHELORS OF MEDICINE). The dean dealing with the preclinical curriculum himself is not a medical doctor and is a PhD not a real doctor (yet in charge of a medical curriculum).India has refused to recognize USAIM as a medical student and neither do they recognize the doctors. And the Seychelles govt calls USAIM an embarrassment and regret ever recognizing them.

Most of the rotation in the USA and Uk are very bad and specially the one in the USA a friend of mine mukesh went there and told us they dont teach you anything and they only have one or two doctors there. Basically there are no students there yet either

People i think usaim is a very good medical school. How am i sure of this? Its because i go there...

IN RESPONSE TO "And the Seychelles govt calls USAIM an embarrassment and regret ever recognizing them. from victimsuaim".... (whos full of it)

Check out the nation, a highly regarded local newspaper in the seychelles. And find out a credible answer instead of the bunch of crap being posted by the so called "victimusaim" .....nation newspaper website ( add www) .nation.sc/index.php?art=10170

"victimusaim" is one of those student who was expelled from usaim. read the post on university of seychelles-american institute of medicine..
