Joining the military as a doctor?

Hi. I'm seriously considering becoming a military doctor. I've got a couple of questions. As a UK citizen, am I restricted to joining only the UK Armed Forces? I'm considering going to a Medical School outside the UK, are there any countries that have good medical schools and a military scholarship system for non-natives, with the aim of joining their Armed Forces? Also, please could anyone who is currently working in the Armed Forces as a doc or is on a military scholarship give their experiences? Thanx

That sounds like a really great option. Does anyone hav any info about how you go about applying as a Doc and also the application process to French medical schools in general. Do they have any premedical courses for those without the necessary science qualifications? I speak French almost fluently so the language shouldn't be a problem. Many thanx

There is a vmd member called blueeyes who has posted quite a lot on French med. schools and attends one. Search his posts and also use the search function to locate posts related to 'french medical schools'
I think that in order for the French military to pay you would probably need to go down the classic Legionnaire's route of first serving as a private soldier, obtaining French citizenship and then asking for a French military scholarship.
