Lost Transcripts

I’m curious what happens to academic transcripts when a Caribbean school closes. If I attend a school and it closes, how would I be able to obtain an official copy of my transcripts? I’ve been told that there are records companies that you can have your official transcripts sent to. They will retain them and certify that they are authentic. Does anyone know anything about this? My school hasn’t closed but I’m concerned and planning ahead.

Any help available would be appreciated.

What I have seen

In IMED with some Dominican Republic schools that closed, they have a name an address for the contact office for records. Yes, there are third party privater companies that do this kind of work. I am not sure who contracts them, if it is the school trustee or a governmental agency. Depends n the country. May I ask which country? You can PM it to me, I will keep it confidential.

Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS)

Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS)
FCVS was established in September 1996 to provide a centralized, uniform process for state medical boards to obtain a verified, primary source record of a physician's core medical credentials. This service is designed to lighten the workload of credentialing staff and reduce duplication of effort by gathering, verifying and permanently storing the physician's credentials in a central repository at the Federation's offices. FCVS obtains primary source verification of medical education, postgraduate training, examination history, board action history and identity. The Federation collects and publishes the most complete data available on physician licensing and disciplinary boards, including their licensing requirements and disciplinary functions. It maintains a resource library of the medical practice acts and regulations under which its member boards operate.
Benefits of Using FCVS
Physicians who complete the verification process establish a permanent, lifetime portfolio of primary-source verified credentials—allowing quick, easy and inexpensive access to medical credentials. These documents can be used throughout a physician’s career for state licensure, hospital privileges, employment and professional memberships. This service is especially valuable to those physicians graduating from medical school outside the U.S. or Canada, where verification is often time-consuming, costly and difficult.
Membership
The Federation is a national non-profit association with membership consisting of 70 medical licensing authorities in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S Virgin Islands.
The Canadian provincial medical licensing authorities hold affiliate membership in the Federation.

CHECK OUT THE FEDERATION OF STATE MEDICAL BOARDS SITE www.fsmb.org/ FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Lost Transcripts

Thank you both for your input. I appreciate the info.

Gen.
Why do you say to forget about the other post??? As for which country I am discussing... I prefer not to say. I don't want to start rumors about my school and my reason for asking really is just for my own curiosity. My class acquired a boat load of transfers from an English school (Saint something or other) that recently closed. A few of these students mentioned that they were having problems due to not having access to their official transcripts from the school that closed. SO I got thinking that perhaps I should look into a possible solutions to prevent any possible problem for myself in the future.

Thanks again for the help!
