Timing issues?

A week or two ago there was a post complaining that the only "good" time to start med school was September. The OP claimed that the timing for the match was such that only September classes "worked out" right, that any other class start would result in months and months of being unable to start residency, work as a physician, etc.

I've searched, and couldn't find the OP. I think it was here or on SDN.

Any truth/comments/etc about the premise of that argument? Is timing really that much of an issue? If it is, what do the non-September class graduates do in the mean time?

TIA!

Anyone have any input on this?

timing at AUC?

Thats the thread I couldn't find, thanks!

Now, do any of our resident experts (Drs. Durst, Steph, et al) have any input? This thread was just moaning and whining from (not quite) students. I would prefer starting in Jan or May, but not if there is a significant downside in getting clerkships, taking boards, matching for residency positions, etc.

Thanks!
