"Great Spirits..."

Dear Friends,

My first post to this forum. I came to know about this place through unfortunate circumstances: while interviewing for residency programs and introducing myself and my school, the next morning one of the residents (who obviously searched about Kigezi International with google) came and asked about "dt" and his accusations that my school was a fraud. A disheartening introduction, certainly at an unexpected time.

Common courtesy and respect for the freedom of speech precludes me from lashing out -- but come on guys, what you inevitably believe to be your small discussion, whether using real facts or convoluted ones born on misconceptions, carries great weight, especially to the myriad of observers who don't explicitly write on this forum. Your tone of voice, your language, your titles, your way of sharing information - these all have a great impact on the impression you deliver.

So if the people who use these forums have a particular goal to make Kigezi look bad in the eyes of people, you have achieved your goal for at least one, and, to say the least, hurt me (personally) tremendously. Please treat this forum with the same respect you would your neighbor or colleague, and realize that many of us are on the same journey, each albeit in a different boat and taking a different route -- no need to justify to anyone one's particular reasons or inspiration.

Best wishes to you all as you prepare for exams, residency, etc. I personally wish they would close this site down - most of what is written is so far from the truth, and so illegitimate in its purpose. Some of you writers have gone out of your way to burn down anything you can get your hands on about KISM. In so doing, you have scarred many others in expressing your freedom of speech. It just isn't right, and it shouldn't be tolerated.

If you are a prospective student and honestly want to know more in evaluating your options, write to the school, write to its students, and most of all, come and visit. Keep it real, please.

Well, I think if you search my posts, you will not find a place where I stated that Kigezi is a fraud.

I am thinking that you were angry when you wrote your post. So, I will not criticise your comments.

Ow..ow...ow..ow..

iamsam,

Though kindly people would sympathise with your overall message, I suspect that those brought up in non-totalitarian regimes might feel your general line of thought is a teeny bit ...dare I say... intolerant.

Sentiments such as, I...wish they would close this site", and "...shouldn't be tolerated.." are the sort of first thoughts that might occur to any of us, but on reflection ought to be set aside for fear of the resurgence of the Thought Police and worse.

To paraphrase what a Frenchman wrote about 300 years ago, I may detest what you say but I would fight (to the death) for your right to say it.

PS I feel obliged to pretend I don't know the Frenchman's name because there's an endemic intolerance on this forum to appearing to be bright.

lies

if you go to a strong school and they really are lies they can be overcome by shedding light on the truth. however it is a bit more difficult to overcome these things if the school is not known, has no rep, and there aren't grads that can vouch for it already in practice. no matter how much i complain about professors, the tuition, the island each time i hear a new horror story like this makes me glad there are 3k grads ahead of me.

best of luck to you but this is an open forum so that students can get real unbiased (from staff) info like what happened on SC site where what was ** was made obvious and what was real was upheld. best of luck

we all may be on the same boat but it isn't til later in your carreer that you notice some are on 70 foot cruisers while others are holding on to converted buicks trying to float in the same direction huh? truly best of luck

hmmm

I just wanted to say that Kigezi does have grads out there. If you don't know anything about the school, please keep you assumptions to yourself.
