Irish Schools

The curriculum of Irish schools are similar to that of the UK. It's definitely different than the USMLE emphasis of Caribbean schools however a good amount of the material overlaps and Irish graduates tend to do quite well on the USMLE. Though, you are required to study for six years and most likely you will have to arrange your own US clinicals. This is a serious disadvantage because a good number of residency programs won't look at you unless you have had some US clinical rotations. Ireland is a good option if you plan to move to the UK, but this will be difficult economically since you will have a heavy debt burden, and salaries in the UK are lower and taxes are higher. The UK will be difficult from an economic standpoint for Caribbean graduates as well for same reasons(lower salary, high taxes, etc. )

irish

The USMLE pass rate is not particularly good for Irish grads in general (and fair play, its not geared for the USMLE) but I can't say for the US students in Irish schools. I have no data and if you have tha tId love to see it.

Goals

Ranjit, the first thing you should outline are your goals. What are your goals?
If your goal is practice in the US, a Big 3 Caribbean schools will be a better choice because you will only spend 2 years outside the US and the next two will be at US clinical sites.
