Problems in the future with no undergrad degree?

I'm a current student at Ross and I'm wondering since I didn't complete my undergrad degree before matriculating at Ross, will that be a problem in the future? I have 148 credit hours in Zoology, which is well over the 90 hours that most US schools require. Any known states out there that have licensing issues b/c of no undergrad degree?

undergrad

a lot of states don't even have a required # of undergrad hours, most require between 60-90hrs, I've never heard of a state requiring a B.s. or B.a. for licensure, but being an IMG every license is granted on an individual basis.

regs

i dont recall what states, but when i was searching for my residency, i do recall seeing some state regs that said no undergrad degree, no license. as for the comment about IMGs being individual basis, that is wrong. Ross, SGU, and AUC have license availability in all states. the only thinsg that will blow it for you are things like prior convictions, no undergrad degree(soemwhere?) and such type of special circumstances.

Re: individual basis. See California...if school isn't approved, no license, ever.

No

I have no undergrad degree, and no problems with licensure (in MD). I have never seen a state require an undergrad degree. G

Been looking

I've kept a close eye on this topic every time it has come up (quite a few times now), and while several people have said they thought it would cause problems somewhere.... no one has ever been able to say where.

...

It's just something that's been bothering me and hopefully won't be a problem in the future. I'm trying to find a way to hopefully take some time off after 5th semester in Miami to go back and finish it with a summer course. I'm only 3 credit hours shy of finishing. It's just that there is no time at all while in med school. I should've done it before I started Ross I guess but I didn't want to waste a semester.

Well then the states that won't license you due to not having a Bachelor degree damn well better revoke the licenses of all those whose countries mandate 6 years after high school to an MD/equiv degree. I'd imagine there are thousands perhaps tens of thousands in all 50 states.

so true

i actually remember thinking about that. i know schools in SA are 5 years, wiht no undergrad. we saw their grads working all over MIami, and they were very good. i remember thinking"but what about those grads in this state?" unfortunately, to recall which state i saw woudl be easier if i had a more selective attitude when i was searching for a residency, but i actually applied in almost every state.

No Problem

You will not run into problems. I think most states just want you to have 90 premed units.

I've been to 12 interviews for FP this season and was only asked about my degree in 2 occassions and they made it a point that one will not need it to start residency or getting a license.

My problem was even more complicated. I left my undergrad school with units shy of a degree and was accepted into a grad program. I thought I could do an away class and used it toward my ** degree but my undergrad school policy says you can't do that for upper division. Then since my undergrad school was far away from my grad school, I didn't go back. I ended up finishing up my grad courses with very high GPA but since I didn't have a **, they wouldn't give me my MS.

And off I went to med school.....FORTUNATELY....my buddy from grad school is now in charge of student/academic affairs and he evaluated my M.D. courses and verified my degree from my med school and he will have my MS degree posted for this May (retroactive from my M.D.)...

So I will have a MS before I start my residency and I still won't have a **

Now...one QUESTION....does medical boards care about your undergrad GPA? How about those C minuses?
