ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello i really want to have a career in medicine. I attended a foreign university in the South Pacific. I graduated in 2001 with a B.S. majoring in chemistry. I had a low GPA, 2.10. I am 25, employed as a chemist making $32K a year. I am married, with a baby on the way (May,2004). I have applied to medical schools in Hungary. I have been admitted to Pecs and Debrecen. Unsuccessful, though, to Semmelwies. Still waiting on a decision from Szeged. I have been trying to decide whether going to Hungary is the right decision. Or, should i just go back and do my chem, physics, and bio at a junior college for 2 years to pull up my GPA. And, take the MCAT and apply to St. George, AUC, or Ross.

How long would it take me if i go back and re-do my chem, physics, and bio, take the MCAT, and then apply to the Big 3?? Or, would it be better for me to go to Hungary for 5 years and then come back to the US and do my clinicals in my 6th year?? Please, i need some honest advice.
Thanks,
Gawtti

On th eright track, but!

Why not shoot for US schools? Do well on your Pre-meds, ace the MCAT, and you can try US schools (especially DO schools), then consider foreign schools after that.

There's a third way. Do well in Hungary for a year or two and study independently for the MCAT, do well and then apply to the Big 3. (Check with them with regards to transfer/competitveness of you application before you take this step.) If you don't make it, you are still in med school.

Re: US med school. I think that your GPA is simply not competitive.
