For Dentists in Indiana considering the internet correspondence MD degrees

Subject: RE: The American College of Oral and Maxillofical Surgeons

From: "

Dear

In Indiana, a licensed dentist who is advertising him or herself to be
an "MD" without having graduated from an accredited program, passed the
National Boards, passed the US licensure exam, and obtained a license
from the Indiana State Medical Board, is engaging in fraud.

Director,
Indiana State Board of Dentistry
Indiana State Psychology Board

Is this new information?

Anyone who advertises an MD, or tries to practice without a license in any state is a fraud right?

You can't advertise, and operate a plumbing business in most states without being a licensed plumber.

Believe it or not, in many states if you have a license as a DDS or DPM you can place a PHD (which you bought) or an MD degree behind it, though you aren't able to license as a medical doctor or psychologist(PHD) for instance. I'm working on a website right now where I will list the states that are still allowing it so that people can complain.

You learn something every day..it never ceases to amaze me. I've found a bunch of these dentists who have successfuly joined some of the Cosmetic boards, etc. using their Antigua MD degree as their credential, even though they are licensed as a dentist.

an example of what happens

I found an oral surgeon who had got one of the correspondence degrees from UHSA in Antigua. he is chief of staff at his hospital and lists his MD degree, though he is licensed as a DDS. A doctor friend of mine wrote a letter to his hospital, his state board, and the guy will have to remove all listings of his medical training under his state law. Will be embarrasing and I imagine the $60,000 he spent for his degree will seem like it was wasted.
