And

The middle east isn't exactly the best place for Americans to go for anything right now. That could be a good target for terrorism, since they want to start targeting US interests. G

oops

You're right, Steph, "start" is the wrong word......"continue" may be better. G

female/middle east..

It's not that bad for foreign women. I lived in Saudi Arabia for 5 years (I wonder if this would give me an edge if I applied to Qatar ) and Saudi Arabia is one of the more strict islamic countries (in terms of religious strictness, hell.. Iraq wasn't even strict).

Essentially for females, always cover up as much as you can and if the law says so, wear an aba or whatever they tell you too! Don't argue! You're not in Kansas anymore. Again, I'm not familiar with the laws in Qatar, but if Saudi is the measuring stick..

And God help you (because no one else will) if someone tries to assert their feminist views..

But hell, I loved the Middle East (well, I'm a guy so I could probably go butt naked and no one would really care) when I was there.. I lived in Jeddah next to the Red Sea.. and it was sooo beautiful. You go out a few miles and you're surrounded by gorgeous coral reefs.. all manners of fish and sea life..

And there is sooo much you can do too. I mean, how often will you take horse riding lessons on beautiful Arabian horses? Learn to sail on continuously calm glassy waters. Snorkel in paradise. And everything is CHEAP!!

Yup.. I'll be putting in an application

Q: " I've been accepted to the Cornell Qatar Medical school starting XXX, 20xx. Can anyone tell me what I need to bring with me to school?"

A: 1. Scrubs,
2. Lab coat
3. Laptop.
For weekend trips into neighboring countries:
4. Kevlar vest/helmet
5. M-4 rifle
6. Beratta 9mm
7. SAW if you got one
8. Local car rental companies usually have good deals on Bradley's... ask about the optional roof-mounted .30Cal machine gun.
