5 or 6 yrs in ireland? charles in prague? why not just study for mcat again?

im looking to apply to ireland schools, and there website was a little confusing to me...I have already graduated from undergrad and got my BA in biology. I have also already taken my MCAT. So does this mean, for UCD for example, that I still have to do the 6 years? why isnt it 4? what about Charles in prague? is that also 5/6 years? can i be exempt and only do 4 years?

if we have to do 5 or 6 years, then why would any1 wanna do this? why not just spend that 1-2 years studying for the mcat, and doing a masters??

And does charles has a semester where i can start in jan?

this ireland and prague application process is new to me, so please bear with me...any help will be appreciated....thanks

yup

The way in which EU schools operate is in the 5/6 year undergrad system, where you don't need a previous degree for entry. e.g,. a highschool student from england applies for a 5/6 year programme. there are a few 4 year courses in poland, but charles, to my knowledge doesn't offer a 4 year accelerated programme. in the 4 year programme cases, these may not be approved, schools may say that their programme is approved, but that will be the 6 year programme tought in the home language. check individual schools out, phone them and check directly.

long storey short, a 4 year degree from EU is probably the same as a carib one, depending on where you want to practice.

good luck.

What's the student body like in the Irish schools? Are foreign students integrated with Irish students? Are 90-100% of the foreign student body hardcore slackers, or is there a sizable population of serious students?

...

I think that a far better source of information on Irish medical schools is the UK & Ireland forum at SDN.

Some people would rather get started. Some dont like idea of carib. there are a few young American school leavers here and some older guys too. I was quite surprsied a few came to teh 2nd faculty. Maybe it will get cali approval in a few years. BIG MAYBE. Low cost over here as well. Oh, and some people who have had time out of high school (Older Matures)- prefer a steady solid 6 year course.
