USLME outline?

i was wondering what a typical med student attending a 6 year program does for the USMLE tests. When do they take them? after 2nd year?, 4th year?,...etc..
if someone could provide a sort of outline of when to take each of the steps..that would be great. also do U.S. med students take the same step 1,2,3 tests as the forgein med students? thanks in advance.

there is really no typical time at my school. people take it as early as summer after 3rd year and as late as after graduation.

take it when you feel ready.

i took it summer after 3rd year. it was fine.

when did u take Step 2?

january of 5th year, again no problem. doing step 2 CS in a couple of weeks.
