transfer from poland med. school to HMI affiliated poland med. school

Hello everyone,

From what I have heard, only Silesia med. schoo and Lublin med. school offer 2 full years of clincial rotations in the US after passing USMLE I through Hope Medical Institute. Has anyone, who plan to do rotations in US, in this forum studied in the non-HMI affiliated medical school, and has successfully transfered to HMI affiliated medical schools, such as Silesia or Lublin, after the end of 2nd years? I have some questions I like to ask.

My question: After you have done your transfer, do you have to study on Silesia campus or Lublin campus? because after the end of 2nd years, students already finished studying the basic medical science. Techincally, you can go straight to US for rotation. Am I correct?

Thank you

ANother question

Where were you able to determine that you can do the full two years of rotations in the US from those two schools?

After passing USMLE step I, HMI will place its students, who want to do 2 full years or less of clerkships in the US, in HMI-affiliated hospitals. I know there are affiliated hospital in NYC, Chicago, etc.

Yes you do 2 years of rotations in US after completing usmle step 1 in their affliated hospitals in Chicago, NY, Ohio, or even Poland-(can start without taking Step 1).

yeah...

dont think that I would ever trust HMI at all whatsoever, I have never heard of it even once that anyone transferred directly into the clinicals out of any of HMIs programs, even after passing step I, they will make you spend time in Poland, AND THAT IS A FACT I even confirmed it myself, and he will milk a TON of cash out of you for sure..... its better to set up clinicals yourself, its a bit more time and energy consuming, but I would never ever trust this guy with my money and thats for sure.

Agencies are for newbs :P I agree that it is best to set these up yourself. I have heard that in places like Chicago where there is a large Polish population, there is a better chance you will get a clinical due to the Polish degree, but go for what you like, for sure.

yes....

you know I am really tempted to name names of horrible students that attended and for sure currently attend those schools (Lublin and Katowice) after failing at my school and repeatedly and frustrated because they just could not pass because that is sad, and then transferred out and subsequently gave my school a bad name, but I wont, lets just say that I would not want to even share the same mall with these clowns. Horrible examples of even high school students, and they are considered medical students that is the biggest shame in the world, these Polish schools, through HMI that is, then again I met some good examples of good students from there recently too but they had already passed step I at least and were doing rotations. Not saying that my school is perfect whatsoever, but Polish schools through HMI are much much worse, they are bad schools if you start there from day one or transfer in without step I at least, but they do offer you US clinical experience which somewhat makes up for it.

facts

guys..lets stick to facts here..the question was asked..is there any other polish school with guaranteed US rotations..answer is no..HMI is great at taking your money..this is true..but you WILL do 2 yrs. rotations with a pass on your boards..and without a pass you can do it at st. Anthony's or JPH(stay away)..good luck

IMO, that depends in part on the quality of the rotations.

I think that one needs to balance this against the cost (as well as all the other factors). For instance, having two years of clinicals at community hospitals where all the other IMGs rotate may in fact mean less when it comes to residency than having a number of audition or targeted rotations at highly respected places that one sets up by oneself (not that this is necessarily an easy thing to do).
