I was wondering what are the job oppurtunities that an MD degree from European schools can bring other then practicing medicine? Is it possible to find a job for example in a pharmaceutical company that is high paying??

I think there are a lot of European companies that try to hire doctors for vaguely medically related business jobs, but not all these jobs are high paying.

On top of this, some European countries produce more doctors than they can accommodate in their postgraduate training and you would be competing with them for such a job. (And many of them speak several languages fluently, which can be just as big an asset as a medical degree.)

I think Miklos is right. An MBA or something else along this line would be a big asset.

Yes it is possible. Jobs for physicians do exist in the pharmaceutical industry, mostly concentrated in clinical trials. Some physicians (at the top) lead the studies and play a large part in the conduct and care of volunteers. So if you want to be an investigator in clinical trials, the option is available, and it will pay well. I'm not quite sure how competitive this is though.

Other roles some doctors have followed that pay well are insurance.

Other lower paying roles are medical sales and clinical trial monitoring (CRA), and I only know of 1 physician from Poland who took this route.

Finally if you just want a job that pays well, then in my opinion there are many better alternatives than studying for 6 years and racking in debt. I for one want to become a doctor, and its very unlikely that I will be more financially secure, than if I stuck with what I do now.
