I have had the opportunity to talk to LMSU on hotmail and I am somewhat concerned. I have just discovered that they have changed their address from lsmu@hotmail.com to official_lsmu@hotmail.com this concerns me.
Every time I talk to them they bring up the issue of money. They keep asking when I will send my tuition payment. They have not even offered me a place yet. I have also told them I will not send any money to anyone until I have visited the University. The payment details are to a personal bank account which I am informed by the school is the account of the admissions tutor.
The fees are £3000 a year which includes basic accomodation. This is why I am considering studying there.
*****_LSMU seems to be a bit keen and maybe a bit immature to go into medicine at this stage. I am currently a student nurse but I wish to study medicine and I would like to say that the profession requires a sense of maturity and is about more than academic ability. I motice that you are only 16 years old which is still young and I do not feel you have developed the maturity required to study medicine.
I do not know you though ***** and it would be wrong for me to make a judgment as I have never met you but your repeated posts are worrying. You seem very keen to promote the LSMU and I wonder whether you are setting yourself up for a fall. The selection of a Med School needs to be an objective descision and your posts seem very emotional and subjective. I would suggest you take a step back and take a long think before you part with any money.
I will be attending Kiev in the summer when I finish the year at University and will spend some time in the Ukraine and visit the University.
The fees are very cheap which is my main reason for looking into the school.
When you graduate from LMSU you WILL have to take the PLAB. This situation is the same for ALL non EU medical schools. Please read the GMC site very carefully. Until recently Australian Doctors were exempt from PLAB but they now have to sit it as the GMC feel that it is discriminatory to allow some non EU countries exemption from PLAB and not others. This means that ALL non EU/EEA graduates have to sit PLAB no exceptions.
*****_LSMU do you mind if I ask how you are funding the course? I am having trouble obtaining the money I need. How have you managed to get the money? I do not know many 16 year olds with £18,000 to spare.
