Warsaw Med U: Is there a student association of English speakers?
Websites of Krakow U and Poznan both have a link to English speaking students' association, and both have very helpful information, e.g. lecture notes, book lists for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students, packing hints for incoming students, or ads of moving sales. Having this kind of support must be very comforting, particularly for new students from North America.
I am considering to apply to Warsaw, but on the Warsaw page. I found only a "Student Union"' page, which is written all in polish. It may contain helpful information, but I will not be able to use it until I've learned Polish well enough. Is there any mutual support system for English speakers at Warsaw Med ? Thank you. |

information on Warsaw
I’m currently applying to Poznan and a couple of other schools but I would think twice about going to Warsaw because you have to deal with HMI. Poznan and Krakow are both good schools and there English program has been around for 10 years or more. That is why they have the English speaking students' association. I personally talked to HMI 6 months ago and still have not received any information. Also look up previous posts about HMI they are not good.

Warsaw Egnlish program
I too had an impression that the English program at Warsaw was more recently created than KMU or Poznan, maybe because of their rather basic-looking web site. I just checked their site again, and apparently the English program has been around since 1993. http://www.amwaw.edu.pl/english/index5.html
Though the quality of website of European med schools may depend more on the degree of marketing enthousiasm than what's really there in terms of quality of education, it may also reflect, to certain extent, the school culture and infrastracture we'll find there. Warsaw U's site gives an impression of an institution that is more traditional than progressive. But then, I may be totally wrong again. I will think more before putting down my money on Warsaw. Thanks for your input. Aloha, from snowy Vancouver. |

the one you linked to is fairly out of date. there is a student association, i don't think they have a website though. The 6year english program is huge, with almost 100 people each year. The 4 year program is much smaller with about 20-25 people per class, and was only started three years ago. 6 year program has been around for over 10 years. Hope that helps a bit. |
