Hi. I am a family medicine doctor, trained in the U.S. I would like to begin the process of approval, in Spain,of my medical degree from Mexico My plan is to take the MIR in 2013. I have some questions: First, do you need to take the MIR if you are an overseas trained doctor if you decide to work in general practice in Spain? Second, it is true that the Spanish government maintains about 10% of all residency spots for foreign-trained doctors? Third, how will the austerity measures in Spain affect health and, in particular the training of physicians? Fourth, what is the general approval process:degree validation, MIR, choose a residency and train, then what? please respond at your convenience. Thanks for your time. Also, if you have any questions about training in the United States, I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Sincerely,
ps. I am also interested in validating my degree in Poland as my GF may be entering the Jagellonian Medical College.
