The Byrne International Centre (BIC Sligo) Advanced Pre-Medical Diploma is an intensive course of study designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in medicine, health sciences, complementary medicine or a para-medical field, as well as preparation for WHO Medical universities.

BICSligo is the International arm of IT Sligo, and run all courses on the IT Sligo campus. IT Sligo is a Government H.E.I. voted 2nd place in the Sunday Times's highly influential Institute of Technology of the Year league table.

The basic entry requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent, with good passes in science subjects (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics) and an English level of IELTS 6 or Equivalent.

BICSligo's Pre-Medical Advanced Diploma has been reviewed, assessed and determined by the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland and St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies (the worlds largest medical university) to be an appropriate pre-medical qualification. Successful BICSLIGO graduates have also entered the following medical schools:
St Georges University, Grenada - SABA University School of Medicine, West Indies, - MUA, Medical University of the Americas, West Indies - Trinity Medical School, West Indies and Sint Eustatius School of Medicine, Dutch Caribbean and many more.....

The RCSI (Dublin) and RCSI (Bahrain) or St Georges University School of Medicine and other medical universities, consider each application on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the BICSligo Pre-Medical Advanced Diploma qualification, medical schools take into consideration a number of other factors including academic background, test scores, personal qualities, and intent. All these components are considered for entry, and although successful completion of the BICSligo Pre-Medical Advanced Diploma is highly recognised, the final decision for entry is at the discretion of the Medical School. Not all medical universities accept Pre-Medical Diplomas that have been undertaken by distance learning.
