POZNAN AND OTHER ENGLISH PROGRAMS

Hi all, I hate to be that "Can I get in with these grades guy?"..........but my question is of a similar thread. I am a Firefighter/Paramedic with a ** in Paramedics and 10 years of extensive field experience that is interested in PRIMARILY attending a foreign med school. I have a strong interest in attending E European programs, including the program at Poznan.

But here's my situation. I have a **, with approximately 1 year of chemistry TOTAL (half a year of IN, half of OR), 2 years of biology, and NO physics. I am staring at the local university in Chem and Physics this quarter.

Poznan and most other english programs state that they require 2 years of chem, 1 year of physics, 1 year of biology. It has also been alluded to that they will accept any paying warm body. From those in the know, Is the latter statement MORE true than the previous?

Should I go ahead and apply with minimal prereq's completed or am I just wasting an application fee until I have ALL of it completed?

I appreciate ANY help/advice offered.

Hi,

I have a similar background as yours, but they seemed pretty concerned about prerequisites in the interview. One of my students applied without all the prereq’s and was told she would only be eligible for the 6 year program. I have a ** in Medical Technology and I’m starting the 4 year program this fall.

Bye ……… Gerry

Generally speaking, attending a four year program without pre-reqs may cause problems come licensing time in certain states.

I suspect that this maybe part of the reason (the other part might simply be academics) that reputable four year programs do not offer admission to those without them.

Hi,

As much as I hate to say this, Miklos is very correct on the pre-reqs. The problem is more and more states are requiring certain pre-req's prior to Medical School, or you will never be licensed.

Remember you can get an MD, but licensing is other story.

Bye .......... Gerry

Finish up!

You are not far from finishing your pre-reqs, so why not finish em? You can always apply while still finishing up your pre-reqs and get accepted provisionally (just mention this to the admissions committee), this way you will have a big burden off your shoulders.

as others here have mentioned, getting in without the pre-reqs, not only jeopardizes your chances of getting licensed in some states, but it may also jeopardizes you performance in med school, since these courses provide the foundation for many med school courses.

I was in a similar situation, but I am now finishing up this semester with al my pre-reqs. and will shoot for a 4-year program.

Good luck
