    Polish Med schools and competitiveness

I was born in Krakow and lived there for 9 years before moving to Canada...now I don't have the grades to go to med school here or in US. Is the high school or college GPA weighed more? I was in the top 2% of my high school class, but I have a 2.9 science GPA from college (went to the wrong college). I have a 3.4 overall. Do I have a chance? SOrry about posting this way, but there is no other way to find out before applying.

IMHO, there are far more spots than takers at almost all English language programs in the region. I would surprised if your stats proved to be an impediment to admisson.

Choose a school that will get you all that you need

Choose a four your program that will get you all 50 states for residency back in the states. 3 of these are in the carribean(MCAT required), several of the irish schools...also australia has some fine institutions. If you don't get into any of these, then look at next best option....SMU and SABA and most schools in Poland have all states except CA although are in the process or had their site visit by CA recently. SMU and SABA give you all your rotations in the US, you know Polish so should not be a problem to rotate in Polish hospitals.

    Polish med schools

Polish med school english-language programs have two admission criterea (maybe three). 1) Are you alive? 2) Are you human? 3) Do you have a bank account of adequate size to cover the tuition?

If you apply, and demonstrate ability to pay, you will get in. It is that simple.

Your overall GPA is fine. A touch low, but fine.

Take a few post-bac courses and raise your science GPA to AT LEAST a 3.2. Then, take the MCAT and score at least 10's on all sections.

Then, apply to U.S. schools. Both allopathic (M.D.), and osteopathic (D.O.). At least 20 schools.

Apply once. If you don't get in, either visit the schools, or call them and find out why you were rejected, and what can you do to improve your chances. Then, the following year do what they tell you, and re-apply.

Then, and only then, if you don't get in, do you start to consider Polish schools.
