As i have read you HAVE to know German because there is not any english programm for medicine in Austria.

Besides,you have to pass a test in german which is called EMS - Eignungstest für medizinische Studien

The available places for students are : 75%for Austrians,25% for EU citizens and the rest 5% for non-EU citizens.

I also heard that as an International student you have to prove that you can get into medical school in your country of origin, ( I'm not completely sure about this requirement which seems a little ridiculous to me)

I think there is one medical school in austria in english (?) It's Paracelsus Medical University but I have not checked. Maybe its in German. Hmmm

Hi there,

I was searching about studying medicine in Europe and particularly in Austria and i accidentally ended up reading this thread. Although the thread is somehow old i hope you can still be helpful. I know that in order to study medicine in Austria, you need to speak German but i would like to know particularly which level should you have so as to make an effort for the EMS-AT test. When are the dates in order to make the registration and when exactly are the dates that you take the examination. Thanks in advance.

If you contact one of the Austrian medical schools via e-mail, they are generally very efficient about responding to questions like these. I would trust their advice far more than anything that might be provided in an anonymous forum such as this one.
