510 points I wouldn't recomment wroclaw medical university.
Here are the cons:
-unorganized (you basically have to fend for yourself when it comes to finding classes, organizing with classmates when test dates are, and signing indexes). Here's an example of things you will have to put up with: the euro cup will be in poland in 2012 and therefore next year we won't have classes in june. They have yet to inform us on how they will make up that month. Rumour has it is that our summer this year will be shortened by a month. The english division office tells us its a possibility but they don't know for sure. Why is this a problem? because students have to book tickets and they can't until they know when there summer ends. Were basically losing money on tickets and can't make any solid decisions for the summer because of the schools unprofessionalism. Its crazy
-you don't really learn from teachers. Your teacher will be a combination of books and the internet. (i'd say this is the worse part since if you want to truely learn and remember, a good teacher is essential...)
- most teachers have strong accents
-dorms are small
-there is not enough emphysis on subjects that are more demanding when you are a doctor and other subjects are non-essential for doctors but unnecessarily demanding.
-teachers who teach the important subjects do their best to be intimidating and there is no student-teacher bond. You can not speak normally to them (like I am used to).
-Equipment you will be using and building where you will be studying are very old. Medieval
-Tests are unfair. There are a often questions on things students shouldn't have to know in that subject. For almost all subjects, if you want to pass, you HAVE TO look at old questions. This is annoying because you could know the subject well however you will probably fail a test if you didn't look at old questions. What kind of teaching is that...
-The combination of all of the above causes the majority of students to cheat
So when you add all this up, i think its safe to say that is not a good university. I find it hard to believe this school prepares you to be a very good doctor. You got to do it yourself. I came here without any knowledge about this university and now i definitely regret it. If i could, i would have gone back in time and got my grades up to get into a better school. What can you do...
I also want to note that a lot of the top students from our year transfered last year. This is the usual routine for most of the years.
I would only recommend this school if you...
-did not get accepted to krakow, poznan, or warsaw
-your grades are lower then they should be to do medical school back in your home country
-you don't want or don't have the cash to get your grades up to get into a better school
-you REALLY want to be a doctor
so come on down to wroclaw but be prepared to study on your own.
Oh the pros about this school...
-you get a medical degree
-Poland is cheap compared to most countries
-Wroclaw is considered as one of the better cities in poland.
