Rest in Peace
I personally find it pretty ignorant ... to write about the unfotunate situation of the death of a fellow colleague. I think we should pay respect to the matter that one of our own has passed away and let him rest in peace !
Rest In Peace Omar, our prayers and good wishes are with you! |

rest in peace omar
Just wanted to add that the student body of Poznan University of Medical Sciences (aka KMU) has signed several condolences cards which were later delivered, along with flowers, by other students and myself to the students and friends of omar.
they were deeply moved and very appreciative of the gesture...something that hit us and them also was the speech given by omar's father. he said that "you were given a chance to study medicine when no one else would. you shouldn't be partying but studying. however, what will make me even more happier is to see you all succed as this will tell me that my son would also have succeeded. if you fail then it will mean that my son was also a failure." for those students who are in poland...i personally think that we should support each other here in such situations, as similar incidents can occur anywhere be it poland, other european nations, or even the US. |

ignorance..
I think what happened to the student in Katowice is a tragic waste of a valuable life and writing about it is far from ingorant. Death and tragedy is an unavoidable part of this world, discussing the events and circumstances regarding such occurences is what hopefully prevents ignorance.

yes..
writing about incidents like this is most definitely far from ignorant. Issues like this need to be addressed to incoming students, and the dangers of each place should be known before hand ( no I am not insinuating that Poland is more dangerous than such and such place). I would definitely want to know about an incident like this if I were to embark on a long enough medical career in a foreign land. Long enough meaning that there is enough to worry about already studying in an international place after living in the US or Canada youre whole life, incidents like this should be known, so future people can avoid such situations. Its called educating.
