I'd advise any of you to rent an apartment as soon as possible. It is not too expensive compared to most other cities around Europe so hostels would be unnecessary waste of money.
Driving in Zagreb can be tricky (traffic jams tend to be annoying). Public transport is fine, overcrowded streetcars but Taxi is always an option.

ok I see, but in which area of the city is it best to get accommodation ( as in putting proximity to shops and university into consideration) . I need to know this, so I can know what to tell the agents when I start looking for a place. And how much is it to get a 1 bedroom house/flat or a 2 bedroom house/flat. ( I cant send private messages at the moment)

I am currently there at school. Mostly any time you get to school you will meet plenty of people.
The school is very close to the city centre so any location near the city centre is fine. You can find any shops you need there. New part of town ("Novi Zagreb") is not a bad location, however it takes 45 or so minutes to get to school. The cost depends largely on the location. The price can be anywhere between 300 and 1000 euros per month. That being said you can find a very decent place for 300.
You get food discounts at school cafeteria so you pay like 1/4 of the cost plus you can get monthly public transport pass for 17 or so euros.

What is the demographic like in the school? Is it diversified?

There are 2 programmes. The Croatian programme is for Croatian students only. The English programme is somewhat more diverse, many students from France, Canada, Bosnia etc. Generally at the English programme the student body is divere I believe, although probably not as diverse as in the States or UK

You don't need an agency, just go to any internet real estate site such as njuskalo.hr
I rented a place 15 min walk from school, 15 min walk from city centre; studio for 200 euros a month without using any agencies
