question
Ha, don't get me started I have tons of questions... like did you have to do clinical rotations in your first year... in poznan, every year you have to do a clinical rotation in one of their hospitals for a month.. five days a week, eight hours a day.. was it like that for you .. and if it was what kind of things did you have to do..

questions
Hi.....as far as me having to do clinical rotations.....I didn't have to do any at all. Well we had to do 200 hours of clinicals in a hospital before you finish your 2nd or 4rth year depending on if your in the 4 or 6 year program. You can either do it at school in poland or at home during like summer or winter break at a hospital in canada. I kind of cheated my way out of it...but as for real clinical rotations like Internal Medicine, Surgery, Peads, Ob/Gyn etc. etc. I didn't have to do any of that until after I passed USMLE Step 1. You can E-mail me with any qeustions you have at
Mitesh312@msn.com I'll be happy to help you out with anything. |

admissions?
It sounds like you guys really know a lot about all of this. I just applied to the med univerity in warsaw. Do you have any idea how competitive the admissions process is? I am applying out of high school, and I have a 3.6 gpa. I am not going through HMI. What do you think?

Hey man whats up,
You'll have no problem at all getting in. You don't need to worry about that. If you apply to the english program then pretty much everyone gets in. I didn't go to Warsaw...I went to Katowice. But Warsaw is an amazing city. You'll have a lot of fun there, we used to go up there a lot to party. I did go through HMI. Most of the indian students who go to poland, and go through HMI go to either Katowice, Lublin, and now some are getting sent to warsaw. I think warsaw is probably the best school out of all three. If you don't go through HMI you will save a lot of money because you won't have to pay all their fees...however, there is one HUGE advantage...and that is that HMI will guarantee you rotations in the states. So if you are applying out of highschool then i'm assuming you will do the 6 year program....so you would do 4 years in warsaw, and your last two years in the states. And it really puts you ahead of the game when it comes to residency matching if you have clinical experiences in America. If your not an HMI member and you want rotations at home, your on your own. |

what exactly is HMI.. I'm from canada and I've never heard of it... I applied to the school in Poznan... it was voted the best medical school in Poland this year... so I figured it was a safe bet.... plus I talked to poeple who are there and who graduated and they all said it was a really good school.. you should look into it.. I went for an interview to NY.. it was really easy and they took me on the spot.. so i dont think it was very competitive for the six year program ... but the four year program was really hard... (so I heard)

Hi. I looked into some of these schools as well. before buying that plane ticket you should check out the eastern europe report at www.AAIMG.COM then read some of the posts on the international med school forum at www.scutwork.com lots of info.

Whats up, Your right, OASIS is not 100% accurate but the way it works is like this. The website is updated 3-4 weeks after you take step 1 on wednesday....sometimes if theres a delay they update it on thursday. Once your update is reported, that means your scores are in the mail. Once your scores have been reported on OASIS you can go to the ECFMG website and try to apply for step 1 again online, and if you get a message saying "our records indicate that you have already passed..." then your done. I got my results in the mail like 2 or 3 days later. I don't want to reveal my score because thats really my own buisness...but I can tell you that I scored somewhere in the 80s. I wasn't the hardest working student so I didn't break 90 but there are people from my school that have done that. When it comes down to it, I'm just happy that i'm done with the exam and I never have to think about it again because studying for it was the worst time of my life.
